It’s a bird, it’s a plane… it’s a whole new kid’s line from Mattel! Huge thanks to @just_bsing and @toy_hunters_collective on Instagram for posting these first look images of three new 12 inch DC figures heading our way. We’re getting Batman, Superman, and The Flash, and boy are we thrilled to see these! There’s something really cool about a good chunky 12 inch figure aimed at getting the next generation of fans into the hobby, and these look like a lot of fun. So let’s take a look at Mattel’s new 12 inch Batman, Superman, and The Flash! I have to say, that Superman is looking fantastic with a really classic look that just screams Christopher Reeve era vibes, and I love that both he and Batman come with cloth capes. That’s always such a nice touch, even on a kid’s line. Superman and The Flash each come with 7 points of articulation, which is pretty standard for a playline figure at this scale, while the deluxe Crime Crusher Batman gets the full treatment with 16 points of articulation, accessories, and a whopping 25 sounds and phrases. Batman always gets the bells and whistles, doesn’t he? How amazing is that?! The Flash is looking super cool in his suit and I love the sculpt work across all three of these figures. The face sculpts in particular are really clean and well done for a kid’s focused line. It’s great to see Mattel continuing to invest in getting DC product into the hands of younger fans, and at 12 inches these are going to have some real shelf presence whether they end up in a kid’s toy box or on a collector’s display. No official release date just yet, but they’re listed as coming soon, so we’ll keep you posted as more details come in!

Here’s a closer look at the trio of DC figures headed for the kids’ line, and honestly, the head sculpts across all three are surprisingly sharp. Batman’s cowl has a nice metallic grey finish with sculpted ears that taper to clean points, while Superman’s classic blue suit with the bold red and yellow S-shield and The Flash’s bright red cowl with yellow lightning bolt accents each nail their iconic looks.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 1

The packaging leans heavily into a Gotham cityscape theme, with deep blues and silhouetted skyline art filling out the window box. You can see that Batman comes packed with a gold batarang and a larger black throwing weapon, and the cloth cape has a nice drape to it even inside the box, which is a cool touch for a kids’ line figure.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 2

Batman comes loaded with accessories here, and the full spread gives you a good sense of what’s included: a gold curved sword, a multi-pronged black throwing star, a gold batarang, and what looks like a gold mace with a translucent handle. I noticed that the armor sculpt has a lot going on, with layered plating on the forearms and gauntlets that feature these aggressive fin-like extensions, and the yellow utility belt and chest emblem pop nicely against all that gunmetal grey.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 3

Batman’s cloth cape absolutely dominates here, swept wide with a great scalloped edge that tapers to sharp points along the bottom. You can see how that gold batarang peeks out above the cape’s edge, and those chunky black boots have some serious tread detail on the soles.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 4

Batman’s batarang is shown mid-throw here with a motion blur effect illustrating the spinning trajectory, which is a fun way to showcase that accessory. The sculpt on his cowl has a sharp angular jawline with a neutral, focused expression, and those shoulder armor fins sit high and aggressive on each side.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 5

Armed with a gold launcher that fires three translucent projectile bolts, Batman’s Crime Crusher version really leans into the play features with its 16 points of articulation and 25 sounds and phrases. The cape here has alternating grey and black striped panels on the interior, which is a subtle detail I think is neat, and the segmented knee armor has a nice layered construction that gives the legs some visual complexity.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 6

You can see how substantial this figure is in hand, easily filling up the grip with that 12-inch scale. His forearm gauntlets have those fin-like protrusions that look even more pronounced when you see them against an actual hand for reference, and the gold curved sword accessory he’s carrying has a nice weight to its sculpt.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 7

Superman

The packaging for Superman goes all-in on a comic book collage aesthetic, with classic DC comic covers layered in blue tones filling the entire box. The card art at the bottom features a great illustrated Superman with a confident grin and his red cape billowing behind him, and I like how it captures that timeless Silver Age energy.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 8

Superman’s cloth cape has a great weight and drape to it, falling well past his red boots with a slight translucency along the lower edge. The yellow belt buckle has a clean circular medallion at its center, and those zigzag boot cuffs where red meets blue add a sharp little design flourish that nails the classic look.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 9

You can see how Superman fills the hand nicely at this 12-inch scale, and that classic S-shield with its bold yellow and red really pops against the deep blue of the suit when you get up close. His head sculpt has a strong, square jawline with piercing blue eyes and a jet-black sculpted curl falling across his forehead, which is just a perfect Superman detail.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 10

Here’s a closer look at how that cloth cape behaves when you’re actually handling the figure, and it drapes naturally over the back and shoulders without bunching up around the neck joint. Superman’s fists are sculpted tight and compact, and with only 7 points of articulation, the figure has a solid, sturdy feel in hand that’s clearly built for play over posing.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 11

Superman’s suit has a smooth, almost matte finish on the blue sections that contrasts nicely with the glossy red of the trunks, cape, and boots. I like how the wavy sculpted hair has real texture to it, with individual curls defined throughout rather than just a flat cap of black.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 12

The Flash

The Flash’s packaging follows the same blue comic collage design as the rest of the line, with layered DC artwork filling the box in varying shades of blue. The illustrated card art at the bottom features a sharp, angular take on the character mid-sprint with yellow lightning bolt ear pieces and a determined expression that really captures the speed-force energy well.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 13

The Flash’s red suit has a smooth, glossy finish that’s consistent from head to toe, and those yellow boots feature a sharp zigzag cuff that mirrors the lightning bolt motif found on his belt and forearm accents. One thing I noticed right away is how crisp the white circle on his chest is, with the yellow lightning bolt emblem sitting cleanly inside it.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 14

The sculpt on The Flash’s cowl has a clean, tight fit around his jawline with a neutral, determined expression and those gold lightning bolt ear wings that add just the right amount of flair. His boots have a noticeable tread pattern on the soles, and with only 7 points of articulation, the figure has that same solid, play-first feel as Superman.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 15

I like how they gave The Flash a translucent yellow speed force effect piece that clips onto his boot, adding a burst of kinetic energy to the figure without it feeling gimmicky. The yellow lightning bolt belt sits at an aggressive diagonal angle across his waist, and the matching bolt accents on his forearms are sculpted as raised elements rather than just flat deco.

12 inch Mattel DC Kids Line 16

Here’s a closer look at The Flash in hand, and you can really appreciate how that 12-inch scale gives the lightning bolt chest emblem and yellow boot cuffs room to breathe with solid separation between each color zone. The figure feels lightweight but sturdy, and those sculpted yellow ear wings hold up well even when you’re gripping him around the torso.

Meanwhile… at the Hall of Justice! Huge thanks to @just_bsing for sharing our first look at the upcoming Super Friends Wave 5 from McFarlane Toys, and boy are we thrilled with this lineup! So let’s take a look at Super Friends Wave 5! The reveals dropped during a McFarlane stream and the leaks turned out to be dead on, as usual. We’re getting Evil Wonder Woman, Crystallized Superman, and Phantom Zone Batman, all of which are said to be Red Platinums. How super exciting is that?! I just love that McFarlane keeps diving deeper into the Super Friends well with these amazing variants and deep cut character designs. Evil Wonder Woman is such a fun pick, and I can already see collectors scrambling to lock that one down. Crystallized Superman and Phantom Zone Batman are really cool choices too, pulling from some of those wild and wonderfully weird storylines the show was known for. Preorders are set to go live on May 28, so mark those calendars! There was also mention during the stream that an announcement regarding Super Powers is coming “very, very soon” from Entertainment Earth, so we could be in for even more good news on the horizon. Will we see more? Only time will tell, but this wave alone has me so excited for what’s ahead for the Super Friends line!

Wonder Woman’s classic costume translates beautifully here, with a red and gold bustier flowing into blue star-spangled shorts and tall red boots. The Lasso of Truth is a nice flexible piece that loops naturally in her grip, and her black hair has these subtle blue highlights sculpted in that feel very true to the animated source material.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 5 1

Here we get a look at the back side of Wonder Woman in her red and gold bustier and blue star-spangled shorts and tall red boots.

Additional-images-McFarlane-Super-Friends-Wave-5-6

Batman is finished in a deep, uniform black from head to toe, with fine silver outlines tracing the bat emblem, utility belt, gauntlet fins, and boot detailing. I like how the monochromatic treatment gives the whole figure an almost silhouette quality, with just enough silver linework to define the costume’s shapes against all that black.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 5 2

Here we have the back side of Red Platinum Phantom Zone Batman with his black flowing cape.

Superman’s entire body is cast in a frosted translucent plastic that gives him this ethereal, crystallized look, with the S-shield outlined in a darker blue that anchors the whole design. The cape has a subtle crosshatch texture molded into it, adding a fabric-like quality that contrasts nicely with the smooth, icy clarity of the rest of the figure.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 5 3

You can see Crystallized Superman’s back side and his nice greyish white cape with the black outlined ‘S’ Superman logo.

Additional-images-McFarlane-Super-Friends-Wave-5-7

Evil Wonder Woman comes equipped with her golden tiara, its red star accent sitting cleanly against that flowing black hair. Her blue bracelets have a matte finish that pairs well with the glossy red of her boots, and the white star details on the shorts really pop against the deep blue.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 5 4

Evil Wonder Woman can be seen from behind, and you can see that her outfit is darker than the standard version of Wonder Woman.

Additional-images-McFarlane-Super-Friends-Wave-5-8

Clad in a deep navy blue suit with a bold yellow lightning bolt chevron stretching from his shoulders down to his waist, Black Vulcan has that classic Super Friends look nailed. His cowl features those sharp, swept-back yellow fin details, and he’s carrying a small translucent accessory that looks like it could represent one of his energy blasts.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 5 5

You can see Black Vulcan from the side and his bold yellow lightning bolt chevron stretching from his shoulders down to his waist.

Additional-images-McFarlane-Super-Friends-Wave-5-5

Superman is sporting a wide-brimmed orange farmer’s hat and carrying a hoe, which is such a fun, deep-cut accessory choice that leans into those classic Super Friends episode moments. Mxyzptlk stands alongside him for scale, dressed in an orange and purple outfit with a tiny bowler hat, and I’m really digging how much personality they packed into that small sculpt.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 5 6

Superman looks like he just stepped off the Kent family farm, and I love the commitment to that Golden Age charm. Mr. Mxyzptlk tags along at his feet, looking wonderfully mischievous with his little purple bowler hat and orange suit.

Additional images McFarlane Super Friends Wave 5 2

Here’s a closer look at the back of Superman’s cape, which features a gold S-shield emblem with a slightly raised sculpted border that sits nicely against the vivid red fabric. You can see how Mr. Mxyzptlk’s scale works perfectly alongside him, barely reaching mid-calf, with the little imp’s orange jacket showing off sculpted buckle straps across the back.

Additional images McFarlane Super Friends Wave 5 3

I like the way the hoe has a brown wooden handle with a silver blade, and the proportions feel just right for Superman’s hands. His red trunks sit over the blue suit with a yellow belt that ties the whole classic color scheme together nicely.

I’m Batman! Huge thanks to @Toy Hunter’s Hollow for the heads up on this one! This comes from DCCollectors.com, Mattel has revealed their new DC Action Figures 6.5 inch scale Batman sets, and they’re coming packed with two really cool villain matchups featuring Clayface and Killer Croc. This is super exciting for DC fans who have been watching Mattel expand their offerings in this scale, and seeing heavy hitters like Clayface and Killer Croc included right out of the gate tells us Mattel is serious about giving collectors and kids alike some amazing rogues gallery representation. I love how they’re going with these larger, more monstrous villains for the Batman sets, because pairing the Dark Knight against foes like these just makes for so much fun when it comes to display and play value. So let’s take a look at the Mattel DC Universe Batman 6.5″ Sets!

Here’s a closer look at both figures in this Batman vs. Killer Croc set, and the size difference is immediately apparent. Batman is outfitted with a heavily armored gray and black suit featuring layered chest plating, shoulder guards, and a red visor across his cowl, while Killer Croc towers beside him with a richly textured green hide, tattered cream-colored shirt remnants clinging to his chest, and torn blue pants stretched across his massive frame.

You can see how this Batman vs. Killer Croc set comes loaded with accessories, including four orange projectiles, a double-bladed silver axe mounted on a black launcher, and what looks like a serrated orange tail piece for Killer Croc. The flatbed cart with its bat-emblem hubcaps and orange-accented wheels is a fun inclusion, giving you a solid diorama prop to work with across both sets.

Clayface absolutely dwarfs the included Batman figure, and the sculpt work across his entire body is covered in lumpy, uneven clay texture that really sells the monstrous look. One thing I noticed right away is how his right hand has morphed into a massive hammer-like fist while his left tapers into a sharp claw, with a set of three yellow projectiles and a black launcher rounding out the accessories.

Batman

Batman is sporting the classic blue and gray color scheme here, with a bright yellow utility belt and the iconic black-and-yellow bat emblem on his chest. He’s holding a blue batarang, and his dark cape drapes down past the knees with a nice sense of weight to it.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 01

The sculpt on Batman’s cowl shows clean lines, with the blue ears tapering to sharp points and the mask framing a squared-off jaw. His blue gloves have a flared cuff detail that fits the classic animated look well.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 02

Finished in a matte gray, the bodysuit has subtle joint lines at the knees and elbows that keep the figure’s silhouette clean. His blue boots have a scalloped top edge that mirrors the cuff detail on the gloves, tying the whole costume together.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 03

From the back, Batman’s soft goods cape covers nearly the full length of the figure, and the fabric has a satin-like finish in a rich blue that complements the molded plastic of the cowl and boots. His gray trunks peek out just below the cape’s jagged hem.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 04

Armed with his blue batarang, Batman cuts a solid full-figure silhouette in the classic Super Friends design. I like the way the yellow utility belt pops against the gray and blue, with sculpted pouch details along the front giving it a little extra dimension.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 05

A close-up reveals the communicator accessory held here, molded in gray with a small antenna extending from the top. The yellow belt’s buckle clasps are more defined at this range, with individual segments separated by thin recessed lines.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 06

Batman comes with a blue batarang, a small gray communicator, and a collectible Super Friends art card featuring him in a classic action pose against a bold yellow and rainbow-burst design. The card really captures the look of the original show’s animation style, which is a nice inclusion for fans of the series.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 07

The card back features a colorful rainbow-burst design with illustrated artwork of the full Super Friends roster, including Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Robin, and Aquaman alongside Batman. The figure sits in a clear plastic blister with his accessories packed around him, and the overall retro card layout has a fun vintage toy aisle feel to it.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 08

The front of the blister card leans hard into the retro aesthetic, with radiating rainbow stripes fanning out behind illustrated artwork of the full Super Friends lineup charging forward. The speckled white texture across the card gives it a weathered, vintage feel that pairs nicely with the bold red and yellow title treatment.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 09

The blister itself has a contoured shape that follows Batman’s outline closely, with a separate pocket molded to hold the batarang alongside the figure. It’s nice to see the card art peeking through the clear plastic, letting that rainbow-burst design serve as a built-in display backdrop for collectors who plan to keep this one sealed.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 10

The back of the card features a large group illustration of the Super Friends team in a classic comic book style, with Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Robin, Shazam, Hawkman, Green Arrow, and others all rendered in bright, saturated colors against a light blue halftone dot pattern. It’s cool to see the roster laid out like this, with the bold red “Super Friends” banner sitting across the top in a style that feels pulled straight from the original show’s title card.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 11

Robin

Robin is outfitted with his classic red tunic, green sleeves, shorts, and gloves, topped with a yellow collar and the signature “R” emblem on his chest. He’s holding a blue Batarang, and his black cape with a gold outter lining drapes nicely over his shoulders.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 01

The sculpt on Robin’s face shows a confident smirk beneath his black domino mask, and the hair has a clean, simple shape that fits the animated style. His black belt with the round yellow buckle sits right at the waist, breaking up the red and green sections of the costume.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 02

Robin’s soft goods cape hangs with real weight here, falling past his knees and framing the figure well from the front. His green pixie boots have a pointed curl at the toe, a fun detail that nails the classic comic book look.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 03

From the back, the soft goods cape covers nearly the entire figure, and the golden yellow fabric has a nice even tone that matches the collar peeking out at the neckline. His green boots have a sculpted fold line around the ankle that adds a bit of dimension to an otherwise simple design.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 04

Robin is holding a blue Batarang accessory, and the plastic on it has a nice sheen that catches the light well. I like how the green gloves have sculpted cuff lines at the wrist, giving them a layered look that pairs well with the matching gauntlet-style sleeves.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 05

Sporting yellow lace-up detailing down the front of his red tunic, Robin’s costume has a charming retro quality that feels right at home with the Super Friends aesthetic. The yellow “R” emblem sits inside a black circle on his chest, and the tunic’s lower edge has a pointed, scalloped cut where it meets the green shorts.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 06

Robin comes with a blue Batarang and a small gray communicator accessory with a yellow screen, while the included Super Friends collector card features a colorful illustration of the character in a kneeling pose. The card’s artwork uses a bold sunburst pattern with the show’s classic lettering, and the color palette on the illustrated Robin closely matches the figure’s red, green, and yellow deco.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 07

The card art features the full Super Friends ensemble in a colorful starburst layout, with the classic show lettering front and center. A small accessory tray inside the blister holds what appears to be the communicator and Batarang alongside the figure, keeping everything neatly packed together.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 08

The packaging’s starburst radiates in wide stripes of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue, with a speckled white texture along the edges that gives the whole card a vintage, almost weathered feel. The illustration at the top groups Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman together in classic Hanna-Barbera poses, capturing that Saturday morning energy perfectly.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 09

The blister shell wraps around the figure and accessories in a deep bubble that gives a good look at everything inside without opening the package. It’s cool to see how the card art’s rainbow gradient carries through from top to bottom, framing the blister window with those warm-to-cool color bands.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 10

The back of the card features a large group illustration of the Super Friends roster, including Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Robin, Shazam, Hawkman, Green Lantern, Batgirl, The Flash, and several others in a classic comic book composition. The light blue halftone dot pattern across the card gives the whole thing a vintage print feel that pairs nicely with the bold, chunky “Super Friends” lettering at the top.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Preorder 11

Judge Lex Luthor

Wrapped in a flowing magenta soft goods robe with a magenta collar, Judge Lex Luthor holds a brown gavel accessory with a sculpted wood grain texture. His green gloves and the peek of a green shirt beneath the robe nail that classic courtroom villain look from the source material.

Judge Lex Luthor 01

A close-up reveals the sculpt on Luthor’s face has a sharp, angular quality, with a pronounced brow, narrowed eyes, and a thin smirk that fits the animated style well. The gavel has a textured, coiled grip section that adds a nice bit of visual interest to an otherwise simple accessory.

Judge Lex Luthor 02

Clad in his purple and green jumpsuit, Lex Luthor has black cross-straps over his chest and a matching black belt with a square buckle at the waist. His purple boots and high collar give the figure a distinct Silver Age feel, and the green sections of the suit carry a consistent matte finish from the gloves down through the legs.

Judge Lex Luthor 03

From the back, Luthor’s black cross-straps form a clean X shape across the purple torso, and the green pants have sculpted cargo-style pouches strapped to each thigh. His purple boots have small black spurs sculpted at the heel, a subtle detail that adds a bit of character to the design.

Judge Lex Luthor 04

Armed with his brown gavel raised overhead, Judge Lex Luthor’s soft goods robe drapes all the way to the floor with a slightly frayed hem that gives the fabric a worn, textured quality. His purple boots just peek out beneath the robe’s bottom edge, matching the magenta tones of the garment itself.

Judge Lex Luthor 05

The soft goods robe has a loose, open weave to the fabric that lets the green jumpsuit underneath show through slightly at the chest and midsection. That head sculpt is really solid, with the bald dome catching a smooth, even skin tone that contrasts nicely against those thick, angular black eyebrows.

Judge Lex Luthor 06

Judge Lex Luthor comes with a full accessory spread here, including the soft goods magenta robe laid flat, the brown gavel, and a Super Friends collector card featuring an illustration of the character in his flowing magenta robes. The card artwork uses the same bold sunburst pattern seen with the rest of the line, and the illustrated Luthor’s color scheme is a close match to the figure’s purple and green deco.

Judge Lex Luthor 07

The card art features the familiar Super Friends starburst design with the full hero lineup illustrated at the top, while the blister window gives a clear view of Luthor in his robed courtroom getup alongside the gavel accessory tucked below. I like how the robe’s magenta fabric reads even through the plastic, keeping that rich color consistent from package to shelf.

Judge Lex Luthor 08

The packaging’s starburst pattern frames the blister from behind with those wide radiating color bands, and the speckled white texture along the card’s edges gives it that same vintage, weathered quality seen across the line. A collector card is partially tucked behind the figure inside the blister, its orange and yellow tones just barely peeking through.

Judge Lex Luthor 09

The blister bubble on Luthor’s packaging has a tall, narrow profile that accommodates the full length of the soft goods robe, with the clear plastic curving tightly around the figure’s silhouette. The rainbow gradient on the card transitions from green to blue along the left edge of the blister, creating a nice contrast against the magenta fabric inside.

Judge Lex Luthor 10

The back of Luthor’s card uses the same light blue halftone dot pattern and group illustration as the rest of the wave, with Superman front and center flanked by Wonder Woman, Batman, and the wider roster below. The composition clusters the heroes in a tight pyramid arrangement, with Hawkman and Green Lantern occupying the upper corners and smaller figures like Aquaman and Green Arrow filling out the base.

Judge Lex Luthor 11

Black Manta

Clad in a deep navy blue suit from head to toe, Black Manta has a black utility belt with a pale blue rectangular buckle that breaks up the uniform’s solid color. His oversized helmet features those signature yellow oval eyes and two long, curved black hoses that sweep back over his shoulders.

Black Manta 01

The sculpt on Black Manta’s helmet has a smooth, rounded finish with a slight flare at the jaw line where it meets the neck of the suit. His hands are sculpted with individual fingers, one loosely curled into a fist and the other open, ready to hold an accessory.

Black Manta 02

Black Manta’s boots have a seamless, integrated look that flows right into the legs without any sculpted cuff or seam break, keeping the silhouette clean and uniform. The navy blue tone on the suit carries a subtle sheen to it, slightly darker than the muted periwinkle of the helmet.

Black Manta 03

From the back, Black Manta’s black backpack piece sits flush against his torso, secured by two thin black straps that loop up and over the shoulders before connecting at the top of the helmet. The belt wraps cleanly around the waist with a consistent black finish that matches the pack, and his fists are both slightly curled at his sides.

Black Manta 04

The yellow on his eyes has a flat, opaque finish that contrasts sharply against the cool periwinkle of the helmet surrounding them.

Black Manta 05

Black Manta is holding a small communicator device, with a gray tip and blue body that blends in with his gloves. The black outlines framing his yellow eyes have a thick, crisp border that gives the helmet a cartoon-accurate feel.

Black Manta 06

Black Manta comes with a small gray communicator accessory featuring a red button on its face, alongside a Super Friends collector card that shows an illustration of the character against a bold yellow and sunburst backdrop. The card artwork captures his teal and periwinkle color scheme in a classic Hanna-Barbera style, with the helmet’s single loop antenna differing slightly from the figure’s dual antennae design.

Black Manta 07

The packaging presents Black Manta alongside his carded counterpart, with the blister holding the figure and his communicator accessory snugly beneath that classic starburst card art. The navy blue of his suit reads consistently between the loose figure and the packaged version, and the pale blue belt buckle is a small but effective detail that ties the whole look together.

Black Manta 08

The card art frames Black Manta’s blister with the familiar rainbow gradient radiating outward in wide stripes, and the speckled white texture along the card’s edges gives it that same weathered, nostalgic quality seen across the rest of the wave. The hero group illustration at the top sits just above the “Super Friends!” lettering, with the starburst’s green and blue bands running right alongside the blister on the left side.

Black Manta 09

The back of Black Manta’s card carries the same light blue halftone dot pattern and hero roster group illustration used throughout the wave, maintaining a cohesive look across the line. The pyramid-style composition clusters the Super Friends characters tightly together, with the warm vintage print texture tying it all back to that Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic.

Black Manta 10

This is the same card back design seen across the wave, so there isn’t much new to note here beyond confirming the consistency of the halftone print texture and hero group art from card to card. The “Super Friends” lettering sits in a red banner shape that almost mimics a cape draped behind Superman’s central position in the illustration.

Black Manta 11

Universe of Evil Aquaman

If you remember the Universe of Evil episode, this version of Aquaman comes from that episode, complete with his darker colors and eye patch! Aquaman’s classic orange and dark green color split is on full display here, with sculpted scale texture across the chest and shoulders of his orange top. His yellow belt features a prominent “A” buckle, and he’s holding what appears to be a small gray and green accessory in his left hand.

McFarlane Toys DC Super Friends Aquaman 6 in Retro Action Figure 1

The black eye patch sits snugly over his right eye, and the blonde hair is sculpted in a short, swept-back style with a flat, golden tone. His dark green gloves and forearms have a smooth, matte finish that contrasts with the warmer orange of the tunic above the belt line.

McFarlane Toys DC Super Friends Aquaman 6 in Retro Action Figure 2

From the back, Aquaman’s orange tunic has a smooth, undetailed surface compared to the scaled front, with a subtle seam line running down the center of the spine. His dark green boots extend well above the knee, and the black trunks create a clean color break between the belt and the legs.

McFarlane Toys DC Super Friends Aquaman 6 in Retro Action Figure 3

Aquaman comes with a small gray communicator accessory with a yellow screen, alongside a Super Friends collector card featuring an illustration of the character in his orange and green costume against the line’s signature sunburst backdrop. The card’s illustrated version shows him wearing a rounded black eye patch, closely matching the sculpted detail on the figure itself.

McFarlane Toys DC Super Friends Aquaman 6 in Retro Action Figure 4

The packaging’s starburst card art radiates behind the blister in those familiar wide color bands, with Aquaman and his accessories held in the clear bubble alongside the carded figure standing to the left. I like the way the orange of his tunic reads, with the sculpted scale detailing on the chest catching just enough light to show its texture even through the plastic.

McFarlane Toys DC Super Friends Aquaman 6 in Retro Action Figure 5

The card art features the full Super Friends hero lineup illustrated at the top of the starburst pattern, with the blister window giving a clear view of Aquaman’s figure and the small communicator accessory tucked inside to his left. The green and blue bands of the rainbow gradient run along the right side of the blister here, framing the figure’s dark green legs against a complementary backdrop.

McFarlane Toys DC Super Friends Aquaman 6 in Retro Action Figure 6

The back of Aquaman’s card uses the same group illustration and halftone print texture carried across the entire wave, with the “Super Friends” lettering sitting in its red banner shape above the assembled roster. The pyramid composition places Superman at the apex with Wonder Woman and Shazam flanking him, while characters like Batgirl, The Flash, and Green Arrow fill out the lower section.

New York Toy Fair 2026 Booth Images

We had the chance to sit down with the team at McFarlane Toys for an official booth tour at New York Toy Fair 2026, and knowing that this is their final year holding the DC license, you can really feel that they are determined to make every remaining wave count. During our walkthrough, they showed us DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 up close, and while I always get a rush seeing new Super Friends product in person, this assortment definitely leans heavily into repaints. The lineup includes Black Manta and Robin as the fresh additions, alongside Hall of Evil Aquaman, Lex Luthor V2 in his Legion of Doom outfit, and what appears to be a third version of Batman in the retro style. Seeing them displayed together in the booth, the bright classic color palettes and that nostalgic Super Friends aesthetic still hit me right in the childhood, especially as someone who grew up on those 80s takes of DC heroes and villains.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Booth Images Toy Fair 2026 1

The first figure on display was Lex Luthor wearing his pink robe that he often wore when addressing the Legion of Doom at his podium. A repaint of the Wave 1 Lex Luthor, this was a simple new version of him with a new soft goods robe.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Booth Images Toy Fair 2026 5

We now get a Hall of Evil Aquaman. Yet another repaint of the Wave 3 Aquaman, but with a new head sculpt. Aquaman has an evil look on his face and of course is wearing the signature eye patch.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Booth Images Toy Fair 2026 3

Black Manta is done in a deep navy blue from head to toe with a clean black belt breaking up the torso, and I love how simple and bold that classic Super Friends look feels in hand. The oversized helmet features those bright yellow wraparound eyes and two thick black tubes arcing from the head down toward the back, giving him that unmistakable animated silhouette as he stands with clenched fists ready for action. The sculpt stays smooth and streamlined with minimal linework, leaning fully into that retro aesthetic that takes me right back to those Saturday morning vibes.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Booth Images Toy Fair 2026 2

Next was Robin. I’m happy we are getting a Robin in this line as what the Dynamic Duo be without him? Batman has been waiting for his partner for 3 waves now. Robin looks great like he did in the cartoon and comes with a soft goods yellow and black two sided cape.

McFarlane DC Super Friends Retro Wave 4 Booth Images Toy Fair 2026 4

Finally there was Batman in the booth as well. It’s hard to tell from the photo if this is Bizarro Batman from Wave 3 or another version of Batman.

Huge thanks to @preterniadotcom for posting these official images! It looks like Mattel is launching a brand new DC line called DC Core, and we now have our first look at Wave 1 featuring The Flash, The Joker, Batman, and Robin. These look like they’re aimed at a wider audience with a fun, colorful aesthetic and what appears to be a really cool stylized approach to these iconic characters. If you remember, we got to first see these revealed at NY Toy Fair 2026. I love how vibrant the packaging is, and each figure has its own personality shining through. These are currently slated for a Fall release, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more details as they roll in. So let’s take a look at Mattel’s DC Core Wave 1!

NY Toy Fair Booth Images

As part of the Mattel Creators Breakfast at Toy Fair 2026, we had the chance to get hands on with the new DC Kids line, and I’ve got to tell you, seeing these in person while snapping our own images and watching the action features in real time was a totally different experience than just scrolling through photos. Mattel walked us through live demos right there in the booth, showing off how these figures are designed with interactive play in mind, and it was clear this line is built for the next generation of DC fans. We were able to capture Superman, Batman, The Joker, The Flash, and Green Lantern up close, and what really stood out to me was how the bright, expressive sculpts and recognizable costumes translate when you actually press the buttons, trigger the motions, and hear the sounds. There is something energizing about being invited into that kind of preview setting, camera in hand, as the Mattel team showcases the play features and explains the thinking behind the line. The scale feels approachable for kids, the styling leans into classic comic book roots, and the action elements add that extra layer of fun that you can only fully appreciate when you see them demonstrated right in front of you. Being there in the Javits Center, getting that personalized walkthrough, and documenting it firsthand made this reveal feel even more special, and I genuinely cannot wait to share more as these DC Kids figures roll closer to release.

Action Feature Figures

This was fun demo as the rep walked us through the figures and also gave demos of the various action features that are both fun and inovative.

Battle Armor Batman

This Batman has a bulky armored black suit with layered panel sculpting across the chest, arms, and legs, highlighted by a large yellow bat emblem that light up and matching yellow utility belt.

Press the bat emblem on his chest and the figure activates lights and sounds, bringing the armored suit to life with an illuminated symbol and built-in audio effects. The helmet is also removable, revealing Bruce Wayne’s masked head sculpt underneath, so you can display him fully suited up or with the helmet off for a different look.

Feature Batman

Here he is mid demo as you press his waist and the figure activates a squatting motion with a twisting action built in, paired with character sounds that trigger during play. The cape is removable, giving you the option to swap in battle accessories and change up his look depending on how you want to gear him up.

Feature-Batman-DC-Universe-Kids-Line-Mattel-Creator-Breakfast-Toy-Fair-2026-Booth-Tour-2

Feature Superman

Superman is shown mid demo as the Mattel team presses his legs to activate the feature, and you can actually see the moment where the green Kryptonite chains snap apart from his wrists. The translucent chains are molded in bright neon green plastic and connect to chunky black gauntlet-style restraints on both arms, and once the mechanism is triggered, they split cleanly to simulate him breaking free.

DC Universe Kids Line Mattel Creator Breakfast Toy Fair 2026 Booth Tour 11

At the same time, his eyes illuminate in red, paired with built-in character sounds that fire off as the action feature engages. The figure is dressed in his classic blue suit with red cape and chest emblem, and the play pattern is clearly designed around that iconic Superman strength moment, combining light-up eyes, audio effects, and a breakaway accessory into one interactive feature.

Here is a video walkthrough of the action figures with action features by the Mattel rep:

Robin and Cycle

Robin is shown riding his cycle, which is Bat-Link compatible. The bike can be placed inside the Batlink Mobile by opening up the larger vehicle’s front section, allowing the two to connect and interact as part of the nesting feature, which we’ll show next.

DC Universe Kids Line Mattel Creator Breakfast Toy Fair 2026 Booth Tour 21

Bat-Link Mobile

The Batmobile features a modern gray design with bold yellow accents, including yellow engine detailing along the sides and gold wheels that really pop against the body. It has an opening canopy with a visible driver’s seat for Batman, dual winged spoilers at the rear, sculpted missiles along the wheel wells and front hood, molded-in guns, and a bat symbol placed just below the front windshield.

Bat-Mobile-DC-Universe-Kids-Line-Mattel-Toy-Fair-Booth-3

The Batlink Mobile features a nesting play pattern where the front section opens up to reveal an interior cavity that can hold a smaller vehicle inside.

Batlink-Mobile-Nesting-Vehicle-Feature-DC-Universe-Kids-Line-Mattel-Creator-Breakfast-Toy-Fair-2026-Booth-Tour-2

Once connected, the vehicles interact with each other so that when you roll the larger Batlink Mobile forward, it activates the built-in missile launch feature, creating a linked action between both vehicles during play.

Batlink-Mobile-Nesting-Vehicle-Feature-DC-Universe-Kids-Line-Mattel-Creator-Breakfast-Toy-Fair-2026-Booth-Tour-3

The Bat-Link Mobile also includes a drone accessory that can attach to any compatible figure, and here it’s mounted onto Batman’s back. The drone can be removed and placed inside the Batlink Mobile for storage, or connected directly to the vehicle itself, giving you multiple ways to configure the setup during play.

We’ve been keeping an eye on this one and now we’re finally getting our first official product images of the Mech Suit Batman from Mattel’s DC 6-inch feature figure line, the same imposing piece we got to see up close during our hands-on demo at Toy Fair 2026 earlier this year. Seeing it in person gave us a strong sense of the scale and presence this figure would have, but getting clean official images really lets you appreciate the details Mattel has packed into what is essentially a kids-focused feature figure that still manages to look impressive on a shelf. The listing has already gone live on Amazon Canada with a release date of June 8, 2026 and a price point of $29.81 CAD, which is encouraging because it likely means US preorders aren’t far behind. From the specs we can see this is a battery-operated figure requiring three AA batteries that are included, which tells us the mech suit is going to have electronic action feature baked in, which we got to see first hand at Toy Fair 2026. I love how Mattel is treating this kids line with enough design ambition to make it appealing beyond just the younger audience, and the mech suit concept is one of those ideas that works whether you’re eight years old or a lifelong Batman collector who just wants something fun and different on the shelf. Hopefully the US listing drops soon so collectors stateside can lock in their preorders.

Official Images

The packaging uses a bright blue and yellow color scheme with a Gotham cityscape illustrated across the card art. Small inset photos along the bottom of the box show the figure’s sound feature in action, with arrows indicating movement at the arms.

Mech Suit Batman DC Mattel Core 1

Two gold discs with a bat emblem sculpted into each one sit alongside a separate mech helmet accessory in black with yellow eyes. I like how the helmet is its own standalone piece, giving the option to swap between the armored and unmasked head sculpts.

Mech Suit Batman DC Mattel Core 2

Mech Suit Batman DC Mattel Core features a heavy armored suit in dark gray and silver with segmented plating across the torso, arms, and legs. A large yellow light up bat emblem covers the chest, and a matching yellow utility belt with hexagonal detailing wraps around his waist.

Mech Suit Batman DC Mattel Core 3

The cape drapes behind the figure in black plastic with pointed, scalloped edges at the bottom. Both forearms feature oversized gauntlet-style armor with circular disc launchers built into the outer plating, and the gold discs are already loaded in.

Mech Suit Batman DC Mattel Core 4

The figure is shown launching a gold disc from the gauntlet-mounted launcher, with a motion blur effect illustrating the disc’s trajectory as it flings outward. I like how the bat emblem on the disc catches the light with that metallic gold finish, making it easy to see the sculpted detail even mid-flight.

Mech Suit Batman DC Mattel Core 5

A hand grips the figure around the midsection, demonstrating the squeeze-activated feature that drives the arms into a punching motion, with a ghosted overlay showing the range of movement. It’s cool to see how the leg compression translates into that arm swing, and the figure’s chunky proportions make it a solid handful even for adult-sized hands.

Up, up, and away! Huge thanks to @just_bsing on Instagram for sharing our first look at the new DC Core Heat Vision Superman action figure from Mattel! This one was spotted online and should be going up for preorder soon, with an expected release window of late summer to early fall this year. Now, as a reminder, this first round of DC Core figures is part of Mattel’s kid-friendly line, with the collector-focused offerings not expected until next year. But I gotta say, even as a collector-first fan, I’m really digging what I’m seeing here. That heat vision effect piece is super cool, and I love how dynamic it makes the whole figure feel. How awesome is that?! It’s exciting to see Mattel getting their feet wet with the DC license and giving us a taste of what’s to come. If this is what the kid-targeted line looks like, I can’t even imagine what they have in store for us collectors down the road. Only time will tell, but I’m already looking forward to it. So let’s take a look at the Mattel DC Core Heat Vision Superman!

Heat Vision Superman Mattel DC Core Package Front

Clad in a glossy blue suit with red boots and a matching red belt, Superman sports a large deep red cape that drapes with a nice sense of flow. The classic S-shield on his chest pops with its bold red and yellow colors, and I’m really liking the sculpted panel lines running through the suit that give it a New 52-inspired look.

DC Core Heat Vision Superman 1

Superman features a heat vision effect piece that attaches to his face, with translucent orange and red plastic simulating the blast firing from his eyes. A finger is shown pressing against his torso, suggesting a button-activated feature that likely triggers the light-up effect.

DC Core Heat Vision Superman 2

Superman is loaded up with gray Kryptonite-styled gauntlets on all four limbs, connected by translucent green chain links that wrap around his wrists. The hand holding him gives a good sense of scale, and the figure looks to be in that larger kid-friendly size range.

DC Core Heat Vision Superman 3

Superman is shown here with the gray Kryptonite gauntlets attached to both fists, each trailing translucent green chain pieces that have a nice crisp plastic finish. His head sculpt has a slight upward tilt, and his glowing red eyes from the heat vision effect piece adds a cool asymmetric touch.

DC Core Heat Vision Superman 4

A close-up reveals the heat vision effect piece in full, with the translucent red-orange plastic extending from his eyes all the way down to his chest where it splashes across the S-shield. That head sculpt is really solid, with sculpted black hair that has a nice wave to it and a stern jawline just peeking out beneath the effect piece.

Even with multiple redecos in the mix, I have to admit I’m genuinely excited that we are getting at least one more wave in this line before the curtain closes. With the license winding down, every release feels a little more significant, and getting to hear directly from the McFarlane team during our meeting added context to how they are approaching these final offerings.

Batman (1989 Film) – Batman 8” Clothed Action Figure
➖
From the iconic 1989 Tim Burton film that defined Batman for a modern generation, NECA presents this clothed Batman action figure featuring the likeness of Michael Keaton. Cloaked in shadow and driven by vengeance, the Batman strikes fear into the hearts of Gotham City’s criminal elite. Once terrified by bats, and psychologically damaged from the murder of his parents, the wealthy Bruce Wayne channels that fear into his alter ego of Batman, donning the cape and cowl to protect the streets of Gotham from low life criminals and eccentric villains alike. As mob bosses like Carl Grissom rule the city with unchecked power, and the madman known only as The Joker spreads chaos like wildfire, Batman is the last line of defense between Gotham and total collapse. Paying homage to vintage toy lines, this Batman figure wears tailored soft goods clothing, including a poseable cape with wire. Accessories include interchangeable hands and iconic Batman gadgets such as his Batarang and grapnel launcher. This 8-inch scale figure comes in window box packaging with slipcover.

NY Toy Fair Booth Images

Hot on the heels of the official announcement from NECA, weare coming to you from the show floor at Toy Fair 2026, I have to say this one felt like stepping straight back into late 80s Gotham because NECA is tapping into the iconic 1989 Tim Burton film that defined Batman for a modern generation with an all new 8 inch clothed figure line inspired by Batman and Batman Returns, and front and center is a Batman figure featuring the likeness of Michael Keaton that absolutely channels that dark, shadowy presence we all remember; cloaked in black and driven by vengeance, this version reflects Bruce Wayne’s transformation from a boy terrified of bats and scarred by the murder of his parents into Gotham City’s last line of defense against mob bosses like Carl Grissom and the chaos unleashed by The Joker, and what really grabbed me in person is how NECA pays homage to vintage toy lines with tailored soft goods clothing, including a posable wired cape that drapes naturally, interchangeable hands, and classic gadgets like the Batarang and grapnel launcher, all presented in 8 inch scale window box packaging with a slipcover, while rounding out the wave are The Penguin and Catwoman from Batman Returns, each rendered with fabric outfits that capture their on screen looks in this retro inspired format that feels both nostalgic and current at the same time; these are slated to hit your favorite NECA retailer and theNECAStore this Valentine’s Day and are up for preorder on online retailers like Big Bad Toy Store and Entertainment Earth.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 12

1989 Batman

I am looking at this 8-inch clothed Batman figure styled after the 1989 film, featuring a tailored black fabric cape that drapes heavily over his shoulders and down past his boots with a subtle sheen that catches the light. The sculpted cowl has sharp, tall ears and a tight fit around the jawline, while the chest emblem pops in bright yellow against the matte black suit, matched by the utility belt cinched at the waist. In his right hand he grips a grapnel launcher with a yellow tip, and the gauntlets, boots, and layered forearm fins all bring that classic Keaton-era design together in a really clean, display-ready presentation.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 11

From this angle I can really take in the side profile of the cowl, with the long pointed ears and the strong brow line casting a shadow over the eyes. The sculpted torso armor shows layered panel lines running down the abdomen, and the yellow oval chest emblem sits cleanly centered against the textured black suit. The gauntlets feature three sharp fins on the forearm, and the gloved hand grips the grapnel launcher with the small yellow tip visible at the barrel. The fabric cape hangs open at the front, revealing the utility belt’s sculpted pouches and the segmented knee pads and boots, all standing firmly on a round display base.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 1

Getting in close on the head sculpt, the cowl has a smooth satin finish with sharply defined ears and a deep set brow that frames the narrow eye openings. The exposed lower face shows a firm expression with sculpted cheek lines, a straight nose bridge, and tightly pressed lips that capture that Keaton likeness. Along the edge of the fabric cape you can clearly see the stitched seam running vertically down the front, with the thread line slightly raised and catching the light against the textured black material. The cape drapes over the shoulder armor, and I like how the stitching gives it that tailored, almost miniature garment feel rather than looking like a simple cut piece of cloth.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 7

Down at the lower half, the textured black suit continues through the thighs with subtle panel lines sculpted into the legs, and the yellow utility belt sits snug at the waist with defined pouch shapes across the front. The right hand holds the grapnel launcher pointed downward, and you can see the small yellow detail at the tip contrasting against the dark finish. The gauntlet features layered ridges at the wrist, while the boots show segmented shin armor and ribbed detailing above the ankle. The fabric cape falls heavily around the legs, with the hem slightly curved and the stitched edge visible as it rests against the round black display base.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 4

Catwomen Batman Returns

This 8-inch clothed Catwoman figure captures Michelle Pfeiffer’s likeness from Batman Returns, with the glossy black suit finished in sculpted white stitch lines running across the cowl, torso, arms, and legs. The masked head sculpt features her sharp eye makeup and defined red lips, while the corseted midsection tapers cleanly into the hips. She grips her whip as it wraps around her body, and the silver clawed gloves reflect the light against the high shine suit. An alternate unmasked Michelle Pfeiffer head with blonde hair is included on a display stand, offering a second portrait option that highlights her facial features from the film.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 9

Zooming in on the head sculpt, the masked portrait captures Michelle Pfeiffer’s sharp features with pale skin tone, arched brows, dark eye makeup, and deep red lips set in a firm expression. The black cowl is finished in high gloss with raised white stitch lines tracing around the eyes, cheeks, and up over the crown, giving that pieced together look from the film. In her hand, the whip is sculpted with a braided texture, curving outward in a smooth arc, and the handle sits tightly in her gloved grip. The silver claw tips extend from each finger, reflecting light against the slick surface of the suit while the whip coils across her torso just below the corset seam.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 8

From this side angle, the white stitched detailing really stands out as it runs in uneven, hand sewn patterns across the cowl, down the neck, and along the shoulders and torso. The glossy black finish reflects the light, making each stitch line pop against the surface of the suit, especially where they curve around the chest and upper arm. Her gloved hand is raised, showing off the long silver claws that extend from each fingertip, sculpted sharp and slightly curved. The metallic finish on the claws contrasts against the slick black suit, and you can see how they catch the light differently from the stitched lines running along the forearm.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 3

Here you can really focus on the alternate Michelle Pfeiffer head sculpt, which shows a more intense expression with parted red lips and visible teeth. The black stitched mask wraps tightly around her face, with raised white stitch lines running across the forehead, cheeks, and around the eye openings. Strands of blonde hair fall down along the sides, contrasting against the dark mask and pale skin tone. Next to it, the lower half of the figure highlights the continuation of the white stitch pattern running down the legs, and the tall lace up boots feature evenly spaced sculpted eyelets and laces running straight up the front.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 6

The Penguin

NECA brings The Penguin from Tim Burton’s 1992 Batman Returns into their 8-inch clothed figure format, capturing Danny DeVito’s distinct likeness with a sharply sculpted portrait that shows his hooked nose, dark eye makeup, thin strands of black hair, and a curled snarl across his lips. The figure is fully articulated beneath tailored soft goods, wearing a textured green overcoat with a wide brown faux fur collar that frames his shoulders, layered over a striped shirt front and buttoned vest that sit snug against his rounded torso. The coat includes internal wiring for subtle shaping, and the black gloved hands can be swapped out for different display options.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 10

From this angle, the tailored soft goods really define the figure, with the textured green overcoat draping naturally around the body and a thick brown faux fur collar framing the shoulders with layered fibers that add depth and volume. The striped shirt front and buttoned vest sit neatly beneath the coat, while the loose sleeves fall over the black gloved hands, reinforcing that classic 8-inch clothed figure aesthetic. The head sculpt captures Danny DeVito’s likeness with a pale complexion, pronounced hooked nose, darkened eyes, and thin strands of black hair under the tall top hat, and his snarling expression with slightly parted lips and subtle paint detailing around the mouth and eyes brings the character’s distinct look into sharp focus.

1989 Batman Returns NECA Clothed Figures Toy Fair 2026 Booth 2

Focusing lower on the figure, the layered soft goods continue with the textured green overcoat hanging open to reveal the light colored pants and buttoned vest underneath, with evenly spaced black buttons running down the center. The brown faux fur trim falls naturally along the front edges of the coat, showing varied fiber lengths that add dimension. His black gloved hands are sculpted in slightly open gestures, and the pants taper cleanly into polished black lace up boots with defined stitching and tied laces. The coat hem drapes around the legs and rests just above the round display base, emphasizing the weight and flow of the fabric pieces.

Wave 1 Leaked List

As we reported a few months ago, McFarlane’s DC license will expire next year, and Mattel will be taking over the reins. There will be a period of time next year that McFarlane’s license ramps down thru the end of 2026 and Mattel begins to produce DC products in a certain age range and style until they finally fully take over in 2027. As we reported, Mattel had previously announced their incredible partnership with Warner Bros Discovery Global Consumer Products for a multiyear licensing partnership on for DC characters and stories. Be sure to check out our previous DC Partners with Mattel What does that mean for MOTU article for some thoughts about what this might mean for the future of the DC license in Mattel’s hands. Now take this list with a grain of salt, as it has not been confirmed, but according to Alex_Chen_Toynews, since the “DC Multiverse” rights are still held by McFarlane until the end of 2026, Mattel’s new line will be named “DC Universe”. Starting in July 2026 with budget friendly, 6.5″ scale figures, Mattel’s first wave of figures will consist of Batman, Robin, The Joker and The Flash. Wave 2 is reported to be coming in September 2026. They will be generic designs to start with and then will expand into more premium designs. According to : Tim Drake – Wikipedia

Timothy Jackson “Tim” Drake is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with the superhero Batman. Created by Marv Wolfman and Pat Broderick, he first appeared in Batman #436 (August 1989) as the third character to assume the role of Batman’s crime-fighting partner and sidekick Robin. Following the events of Batman: Battle for the Cowl in 2009, Drake adopted the identity of Red Robin. In 2019, Tim returned to his original Robin persona and had a brief stint in which he used the mononym “Drake”.

As a young boy, Tim was in the audience the night Dick Grayson‘s parents were murdered and later managed to discover the identities of Batman and the original Robin through their exploits. After the death of the second Robin, Jason Todd, and witnessing Batman spiral into darkness, Tim attempted to convince Dick to resume the role of Robin, stating that “Batman needs a Robin”. However, Dick refused to return to being Batman’s sidekick, and instead, Tim was appointed as the third Robin. Neal Adams redesigned the entire Robin costume specifically for Tim Drake’s character, with the sole exception of the redesigned “R” logo by the late Norm Breyfogle.

Subsequent stories emphasize Tim’s superior detective skills compared to the previous two Robins, which make him more similar to Batman. He succeeded Dick as the leader of the Teen Titans, and later led his superhero team, Young Justice. He was briefly followed in the role of Robin by Stephanie Brown, and later for a longer period by Batman’s biological son, Damian Wayne, during the time Tim operated as Red Robin. Tim has been shown to have a close friendship with Superboy (Conner Kent). He has had romantic relationships with superheroes Stephanie Brown and Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark), and more recently his former schoolfriend Bernard Dowd.

The Joker

The Joker is one of the most iconic and enduring villains in comic book history, primarily known as the arch-nemesis of Batman. His first appearance was in “Batman #1,” published by DC Comics in 1940. Created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson, the character has undergone various interpretations and adaptations over the decades.

The Joker is often depicted as a sociopathic criminal mastermind with a warped sense of humor. He embodies chaos and embraces anarchy, often committing heinous crimes purely for the thrill or to create havoc. Traditionally, the Joker is characterized by his clown-like appearance, featuring white skin, green hair, and red lips, along with a flamboyant and colorful costume. His look often includes a purple suit, which has become his signature style.

Aside from his physical antics, the Joker is highly intelligent and a master manipulator. He often engages in psychological warfare, using Batman’s ethics and values against him.The Joker’s origin story has been reinterpreted multiple times, with one of the most recognized being the “The Killing Joke” graphic novel by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland, which suggests he was a failed comedian who turned to crime and fell into a vat of chemicals, leading to his disfigurement and insanity.

The Joker has become a cultural symbol, representing not only the concept of the archetypal villain but also raising philosophical questions about morality, chaos, and society. His ongoing rivalry with Batman serves as a narrative anchor for numerous comic books, animated series, and films, making him a central figure in the Batman mythos and a significant presence in popular culture.

The Flash

“The Flash” is a classic superhero comic book character created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert. The character first appeared in “Flash Comics” #1, published by All-American Publications in January 1940. This initial version of The Flash was Jay Garrick, a college student who gained super-speed abilities after inhaling hard water vapors. Some key aspects of The Flash include his many versions as depicted in the comic books and cartoons. Both versions of The Flash shown below can move at superhuman speeds, which grants them abilities such as quick reflexes, time travel, and the capacity to vibrate through solid objects. Barry Allen’s version popularized the “Speed Force,” a mysterious energy source that grants speedsters their powers and enhances their abilities.

  • Jay Garrick (Golden Age Flash): Jay Garrick is known for his metal winged helmet, which became iconic. He was part of the Justice Society of America (JSA) and embodied the spirit of the Golden Age of comics. His character had a more straightforward and wholesome style compared to later versions.
  • Barry Allen (Silver Age Flash): The character experienced a revival in 1956 when writer Robert Kanigher and artist Carmine Infantino introduced Barry Allen as the new Flash in “Showcase” #4. Barry was a Central City police scientist who obtained his super-speed abilities after being struck by lightning while working with chemicals. This led to the development of the superhero persona we commonly recognize today.
The-Flash

The Flash has one of the most recognizable rogues galleries in comic book history, including villains like Captain Cold, Reverse-Flash (Eobard Thawne), Professor Zoom, and Mirror Master. Each of these characters often represents a unique thematic challenge to The Flash. The Flash has appeared in numerous comic book series, television shows, and animated features over the decades. The character’s speed-related powers and unique time-traveling story arcs have influenced many narratives across the DC Universe. The Flash has been adapted into various media, including live-action and animated series. The character gained widespread popularity with the “The Flash” TV series that began airing in 2014, featuring Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, which has been well-received by fans and critics alike. Overall, The Flash has been an enduring character in comic book history, notable for his rich legacy, complex storylines, and iconic status in popular culture.

Aquaman

Aquaman is a superhero from DC Comics who became particularly well-known through his appearances in the animated television series “Super Friends.” The show debuted in 1973 and featured a lineup of popular DC superheroes working together to combat various villains and threats.

In “Super Friends,” Aquaman is portrayed as the King of Atlantis and possesses a variety of abilities, including superhuman strength, the ability to communicate with marine life, and the power to breathe underwater. He often takes on the role of the heroic figure who protects the oceans and assists his fellow superheroes in times of need. His appearance typically includes a distinctive orange and green costume, and he is often seen wielding his trident, which is a symbol of his power and authority over the sea.

Throughout the series, Aquaman’s character is depicted as noble and courageous, often emphasizing themes of teamwork and environmentalism, especially in relation to ocean conservation. Despite being a popular character in the comics, Aquaman has sometimes faced criticism for perceived limitations in his powers compared to land-based superheroes, but “Super Friends” helped to cement his status as a key member of the superhero community.

The portrayal of Aquaman in “Super Friends” has had a lasting impact on the character’s legacy, influencing how he is perceived in later adaptations, including animated series, films, and comic books.

Zan

Zan one of the Wonder Twins from the animated television series “Super Friends,” which aired from 1973 to 1986. He is known as “Zan the Wonder Twin” and is part of the Wonder Twins duo, alongside his sister, Jayna. Both characters are extraterrestrial beings from the planet Exxor and possess unique powers that they use to help the Justice League and fight various villains.

Zan’s primary ability is to transform into any form of water, including ice or vapor. He often shouts the phrase “Wonder Twin powers, activate!” before activating his powers, which adds a signature catchphrase to his character. His sister Jayna can transform into any animal, which complements Zan’s powers in various adventures.

The Wonder Twins, despite being somewhat comedic in nature, have become popular characters in the DC Comics universe, showcasing themes of teamwork and the importance of sibling bonds. They are remembered fondly by fans of the “Super Friends” series and have made appearances in other DC media, including comics and animated series.

Brainiac

Bizarro is primarily associated with Superman. In the context of the “Super Friends” animated series, Bizarro is depicted as a sort of anti-Superman. He was created as a flawed clone of Superman, possessing a mirror-image of his powers but with an inverted moral compass and personality traits.

Bizarro often functions as a comedic or tragic figure, displaying actions that are the opposite of what would typically be expected from Superman. For example, while Superman seeks to save people and do good, Bizarro might accidentally cause harm or misunderstand situations due to his reverse logic and bizarre behavior.

In the “Super Friends” series, Bizarro’s appearances are generally less frequent compared to other iconic villains, but his presence contributes to the interesting dynamics among the Super Friends as they confront this unique version of Superman.

Superefriends-Bizzarro

Bizarro Batman

In “Super Friends,” Bizarro Batman is depicted as a flawed and comical version of the Dark Knight. Like the original Batman, he has similar attire and gadgets, but his characteristics are exaggerated and inverted. He often displays a misunderstanding of concepts, leading to humorous outcomes. For instance, where Batman is serious and strategic, Bizarro Batman often acts in a clumsy and nonsensical manner.

The character embodies the “Bizarro” trope, which is a play on the “Bizarro World” concept from the Superman comics, where everything is the opposite of what it normally is. Bizarro Batman’s presence in the series often adds a light-hearted element to the stories, contrasting the more serious tone of Batman and exploring the theme of duality in superhero personas.

Super Friends

Super Friends was my all time favorite cartoon series growing up. Any child of the 70’s has fond memories of watching the Super Friends. The animated television series was produced by Hanna-Barbera and aired from 1973 to 1986. The show featured a team of superheroes from DC Comics, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and others, who came together to form the Super Friends. The series was known for its positive messages and lessons for children, as well as its action-packed adventures with the superheroes fighting against various villains to protect the world. The show also featured the sidekicks of the superheroes, such as Robin, Aqualad, and the Wonder Twins, who helped the team in their missions. Throughout its run, the Super Friends series went through various iterations and changes, including different team members, storylines, and animation styles. It was popular among children and comic book fans alike, and remains a beloved part of superhero animation history. Overall, Super Friends is remembered for its fun and adventurous storytelling, iconic characters, and inspirational theme of teamwork and heroism.

According to just_bsing on Instagram

Piggybacking off our post from last night, here are some new images of the soon to be released @target exclusive @spinmaster DC Retro Batman ‘89 figures on card!

Another homage to the Kenner Star Wars packaging and very similar to the Superman: The Movie packaging except with the figures prominently displayed. I’d probably have preferred them sticking with the movie poster design that they went with for Superman, with just the iconic Bat logo instead of the figures, but I’ve definitely seen worse box art!

Check out our previous post for more images and details of the figures!

Batman

Here we can see the cardback and the figure for the Michael Keaton Batman, which looks to be the same as the one offered in the Retro Batman ‘89 Batmobile set but you get his cool grappling hook gun with him!

The Joker

This version of The Joker is really nostalgic and cute. I would not say that it resembles Jack Nicholson, but he totally gives me those Kenner vibes, so I like him! The Joker comes with a cane and his classic removeable purple fedora hat.

Bob the Goon

You can’t have a wave of Batman 89 figures, without Bob the Goon. His card back art looks very AI generated, but that’s ok, I just want the figure anyways. Bob comes with his classic removeable hat.

Vicki Vale

Lastly we have Vicki Vale! You need to have a damsel in distress to make this wave complete. Again, her card back art also looks very AI generated, but her figure looks nice. She includes her camera, kinda like Lois Lane!

Continuing the celebration on Batman day, we want to give a huge thanks to Toyshiz via Instagram for posting images of Retro Batwing ’89 with Batman Returns figure by Spin Master! After the release of the Retro Batman ‘89 Batmobile, Spin Master is now bringing us the Batman 89 Batwing complete with Batman figure from the Batman Returns movie. This new vehicle figure pack comes two incredible classic Batman movies and we can’t wait to see what else they have in store! So let’s take a closer look at the new Retro Batwing ’89 with Batman Returns by Spin Master!

Spinmaster-Batman-Returns-Batwing-IH-3

The new Batwing comes packed with Batman from the Batman Returns movie. The packaging blends logos from both Batman 89 and Batman Returns movies.

Spinmaster-Batman-Returns-Batwing-IH-2

According to Toyshiz via Instagram:

This is the @spinmaster Batman ‘89 BATWING with BATMAN (Returns).

Which makes sense, if he had the same Batmobile in both films, he’s likely to have rebuilt the Batwing at some point.

But…he did have a new Batwing in Batman Forever. Also a new Batmobile & a Batboat…But that’s a whole different Batman…are they the same Batman? Batman Forever was Val Kilmer. Is it a multiverse? Did the timeline Branch off? Did a Crisis occur off screen?

The answer is…who cares. Just shaddap and do what we did in the 90s. Played with the toys & then we moved on with our lives😂.

Regardless, this Batwing is pretty cool. Batman fits in the batwing. You can zoom it around your office with your own sound effects. And at the end of the day, that’s all it needs to be…Fun.

Hope you all had a great Batman Day!

You can see that the Batwing has a classic design with a clear canopy and some very nice details. There are some faux red lights and vents along the top. The rear has some wings and the shape of course looks like a bat.

A closer look at the Batman Returns figure. It’s hard to tell from these photos of the little duck is included, but if it is, then it’s really cool.

Some closer details of the Batwing vehicle. Here we can see details from the cockpit. There are a lot of bits and bobs and buttons all over the cockpit area. The canopy pops up and there are some nice details on the interior. The cockpit includes a sticker with cockpit controls.
