Hot on the heels of the reveal of the 200x MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection deluxe Whiplash in-package image, we now have our first look at the official production images and packaging for the Masterverse Vintage Collection Wun-Dar, and this one is a really interesting case for a number of reasons. We first shared intel that Wundar was headed to the Masterverse Vintage Collection a while back, and seeing him go from early intel to a fully realized official reveal is awesome. What immediately stands out here is the packaging situation, because Wun-Dar MOTU Masterverse Vintage Collection Official Images holds a unique distinction as the first figure in the Vintage Collection to not feature official packaging art in the style of the classic cardbacks, and that’s because the original vintage Wun-Dar MOTU Masterverse Vintage Collection Official Images was never a carded retail release at all. He was a mailaway figure, one of those deep cuts from MOTU history that a lot of collectors know about but far fewer have ever held in hand, so the fact that Mattel is giving him the Masterverse treatment speaks volumes about how far they’re willing to dig into the lore for this line. As with the rest of the Masterverse Vintage Collection, these are Walmart exclusives, so expect him to pop up for pre-cancel, sorry, we mean preorder, during a future Walmart Collector Con event. If past drops are anything to go by, you’ll want to be ready the moment that listing goes live because these exclusives tend to move fast and the checkout process can be its own kind of battle. The figure itself looks great from what we can see in the official images, and I’m really curious to see how collectors react to the packaging solution Mattel came up with given the absence of original card art to pull from. This is the kind of release that rewards the collectors who know their MOTU history, and I can’t wait to see more details as we get closer to availability.

Official Box Image

The box design for Wun-Dar leans into the classic MOTU cosmic aesthetic with swirling reds and purples, and notably skips the traditional character art panel, which makes sense given his origins as a mail-away figure with no vintage card art to reference. Inside the window, the figure is clearly built on the 40th Anniversary He-Man buck with a dark repaint, and that alternate head is unmistakably a repaint of the Cosmic Enforcer Zodac head, complete with the goggles and helmet sculpt.

Wun-Dar Walmart Listing and Official Details

I’ve got to say, I’m really fired up about this one because it feels like we’re watching the Masterverse Vintage Collection take its first big swing into fresh territory with a figure that doesn’t have direct vintage-era artwork or roots to anchor it. Wun-Dar MOTU Masterverse Vintage Collection Official Imagesis officially on deck for the Masterverse Vintage Collection, and while we don’t have vintage reference material to pore over like we normally would, we can pretty much guarantee that he’ll be a repaint of the most Powerful Man in the Universe using the same figure buck and design as the recent Vintage Collection Faker. It’s funny that we are getting a myriad of repaints of He-Man and he has yet to make his official debut in the vintage collection proper but maybe he is too close his 40th Anniversary release to justify it and it would probably disappoint many collectors. That said, I love moments like this where I get to dig in as a collector and fan because seeing the Vintage Collection expand beyond strict vintage callbacks tells me Mattel is looking to stretch the sub-line in new directions while still honoring that nostalgic presentation. With a classic mail away figure and the MOTU Classics and Origins figure to draw inspiration from, I can already imagine how he’ll look alongside the upcoming releases on a retro-style box and can’t wait to see the original artwork that comes along with him.

Wun-Dar Background

There are many theories about where and how Wun-Dar came to be, ranging from an actual Wonder Bread promotion to a buy 3 Mattel figures get one free deal so if you are not familiar with Wun-Dar or his origins, here is more about him:

The figure of Wun-Dar is an homage to the original promotional figure given away through the mail in 1981. In the late 1990s an unusual repaint of He-Man began appearing on eBay. He sported the same color scheme that Wun-Dar would come to have.

For many years there was much uncertainty about the origin of this figure and it was long believed he came from a promotion with the Wonder Bread sliced bread company however more recent research since the release of the Classics figure has disproved this. This He-Man variant was available through a promotion where you could buy 3 figures and get one free in the mail, this figure was savage He-Man.

Wun-Dar
Wun-Dar Masters of the Universe Vintage Figure

It seems like, after much debate (and time), the consensus is that Wun-Dar was part of the Buy 3 Get 1 free promotion back in the 80’s and Scott Toy Guru Neitlich has made two YouTube Videos on the history of Wun-Dar entitled New evidence comes to light on a 35 year toy-mystery. The Wonder Bread He-Man’s origin solved! and Wun-Dar the Wonderbread Savage He-Man. His remaining mysteries reviewed and solved. Apparently the figure that was shipped was a color variant of He-Man with dark hair, a black belt, and a brown loin cloth. Now, today, there is a president for figures coming without armor (think Mer-Man from the Revelation line) but this definitely would have been a surprise in the 1980’s.

Buy 3 Get 1 Free Mattel 1980’s Promotion
Wun-Dar Vintage Masters of the Universe Figure With Accessories

Dear Mattel…

Here is the letter that Scott Toy Guru Neitlich referenced in his YouTube video that helped shed light on the mystery of Wun-Dar and this was from a disgruntled parent who apparently did not know she was getting an “incomplete” figure with some random accessories. Thank goodness this person mailed this to Mattel as the mystery might have been unsolved or the speculation on the bread promotion might have prevailed. Here is what part of the letter says…

“I recently took advantage of your buy 3 get 1 free offer on Masters of the Universe figures. I must say it was a very disappointing experience not only for my myself but my son(s) and nephew too.

What we expected was a complete person, with equipment. For that reason, we made sure not to buy any duplicate figures so that any one that we received would be all right between the boys they now have the Castle, Battle Cat, Mer-Man, Skeletor, Beast Man, Zodac, He-Man, Man-At-Arms. Imagine their dismay with the figure they received. They asked who it was and I explained he was a special edition He-Man…”

Wun-Dar Letter to Mattel

Wun-Dar MOTU Classics Figure

In the Classics Line, The Wun-Dar figure is an homage to this mysterious He-Man variant and the the loaf of bread and the “savage” descriptor are clear nods fans thinking this had anything to do with Wonder Bread. There is also an easter egg paint app on the back of the armor of figure that pays tribute to this as you can see a a symbol consisting of three colored circles that is very similar to the Wonder Bread logo.

Another curious detail is the backstory given on the card. The premise of a “savage” He-Man saving the Goddess and then being given his weapons by her and tasked with defending Eternia is very similar to the original origin of He-Man presented in He-Man and the Power Sword.

Wun-Dar Mattel Creations Figure

According to Mattel’s product description:

An ancient hero returns! 100 years before Prince Adam was born, Wun-Dar saved the Goddess of Eternia and became one of the first Defenders of Castle Grayskull. This character was a rare promotional figure released in the 80’s. We’re bringing him back as the newest figure in our MOTU Origins line. For savage battle-worthy displays, this Wun-Dar collector figure is articulated and comes with weapon accessories to protect the secrets of Castle Grayskull.

  • MOTU Origins Wun-Dar Figure
  • 5.5 inches tall, can stand alone
  • Comes with a removable chest armor, sword, axe, and blaster
  • 16 points of articulation for battle-worthy poses
  • Includes mini comic
  • An old ally joins the fight for Eternia!

Wun-Dar Figure

Wun-Dar comes in the same type of exclusive packaging as we got with mini comic Tri-Klops, but we will cover that further below, with a brown shipper box with pencil art and a special cart back with front artwork and a full art work image on the back. The figure of Wun-Dar as to be expected, which is basically a re-paint of the vintage head version of He-Man. He has chocolatey brown hair in that classic vintage head style, with a darken, more brown and less orange skin tone then the He-Man Figure. He also comes with the black Zodac chest armor, black wrist cuffs, a black belt, brown shorts and black boots that tie the figure in nicely with the armor too!

You can see that the vintage accessories that came with the Vintage Wun-Dar slightly resemble the ones we get with the Origins Wun-Dar, but are still vastly different. The vintage Wun-Dar came with packed with recolored Grayskull Weapons rack accessories as we mentioned above. Vintage Wun-Dar included an axe, shield, large blaster, mace and sword. The sword is similar but has a different hilt. The axe too has a totally different handle, and the vintage Wun-Dar never came packed with a blaster.

What a wild ride today has been for Masters of the Universe collectors, as Walmart has practically been tripping over itself with leaks ahead of Walmart Collector Con October 2025! Early this morning, sharp-eyed fans uncovered the MOTU Origins Deluxe 200x Samurai He-Man listing, which was the first big surprise to surface. Not long after, a very incomplete entry for the Masterverse Vintage Collection Teela popped up on the preview page, fueling speculation about what was coming next. And now, capping off this rollercoaster of a day, we have the discovery of a Masterverse Vintage Collection Mer-Man listing, giving us a true hat trick of unexpected reveals. While these listings don’t appear to have been meant for public eyes just yet, the good news is that all of these figures, including the newly revealed Mer-Man, will officially be going up for preorder on October 10, 2025, at 7am PT, making this one of the most exciting Collector Con lineups for MOTU fans yet!

Here is a direct link to the Mer-Man Masterverse Vintage Collection figure

October 3, 2025 Update: Official Image Added

The official image shows the Mer-Man Masterverse Vintage Collection figure decked out in his classic green skin with orange accents around his eyes. His armor captures the classic vintage style with bold yellow details and a red chest plate centerpiece. The sculpt highlights his scaly texture, gill-like face, and large expressive eyes. He comes with two accessories: a yellow trident featuring a blue gem and a serrated yellow sword.

Mer-Man

Mer-Man is depicted here in his natural element, a powerful and commanding figure. Though the character has occasionally been portrayed as somewhat simplistic, this illustration rejects such interpretations, instead presenting Mer-Man as a master of his aquatic domain. The detailed rendering emphasizes his control over the environment, showcasing his inherent strength and intelligence. This portrayal aligns with McCarthy’s broader artistic vision, offering a nuanced and dignified representation of a character often reduced to less complex roles in other depictions.

MOTU Classics Mer-Man

What makes Mer-Man truly stand out is all in the details of his armor and head sculpt—because, let’s face it, his base figure is pretty standard! He shares the familiar He-Man pelvis, rocking the green belt and iconic yellow furry “diaper.” His arms and legs? Straight from Skeletor, but with a twist—his bracers and greaves are painted in eye-catching yellow. But the real magic is in his skin! His body is covered in a striking blue-green tint with a subtle metallic sheen, giving him a sleek, fish-like appearance that makes him look ready to rule the seas! Another notable feature was Mer-Man’s weapon, often referred to as the “corn-sword.” Although this weapon was intended to resemble an aquatic blade fashioned from the rostrum of a sawfish, its design ended up resembling a common utensil used to hold corn on the cob.

Massive thanks to Masterversal Toyhunter for the heads up on this one, because Beast Man from the Masterverse Vintage Collection has reared his ugly mug on eBay, giving us our first look at actual in-hand production packaging, and I have to say, this thing looks fantastic. We’ve been tracking this release for a while now, going all the way back to when we first got word that Beast Man was headed to the Masterverse Vintage Collection, and then more recently when Mattel pulled back the curtain with official images, so seeing the actual boxed figure surface in the wild feels like the natural next chapter in that journey. The figure itself looks sharp in the packaging window, capturing that savage, wild energy Beast Man should always carry, but what really grabs me is the rear packaging art, which is just gorgeous. Feast your eyes on that illustration, because Roy Juarez and team have absolutely struck gold again with this one, delivering a piece that perfectly channels the spirit of those classic vintage card backs while still feeling fresh and dynamic. I love how the art captures Beast Man in all his feral glory, snarling and ready to do Skeletor’s bidding, with a level of detail and color work that makes you want to leave the card intact just to display it as a piece of art in its own right. It is exactly that kind of craftsmanship on the packaging that elevates the Vintage Collection line beyond a simple nostalgia play and into something collectors genuinely treasure. We also feel like this Masterverse Vintage Collection placeholder listing for Walmart Colletctor Con is earmarked for Beast Man and having him surface like this lends a lot of credibility to that theory!

Packaging Images

The back of Beast Man’s packaging features stunning artwork by Roy Juarez and team, depicting Beast Man locked in combat with He-Man while Skeletor looms nearby wielding his havoc staff. The illustrated scene is set against a rocky Eternian landscape with dramatic cloud formations. Below the artwork, three smaller product photos showcase the figure in different poses, highlighting the included whip accessory and an alternate arm, all set against a green backdrop with an illustrated mountain range running along the bottom of the box.

Beast Man Masterverse Vintage Collection 1a

Beast Man is packaged in a window box with artwork depicting an explosive scene of rock bursts radiating outward against a deep blue and purple cosmic backdrop, with lightning bolts streaking across the composition, which is all part of the box art we know and love from this line. The figure sits in a plastic tray inside the window, with his blue fur loincloth, silver medallion, and white face paint clearly presented. The surrounding artwork by Roy Juarez and team gives the packaging an energetic, classic feel with its bold color palette of blues, purples, and reds.

Official Images

Sometimes the surprises in this hobby sneak up on you when you least expect them, and that is exactly how I felt when Mattel quietly uploaded the official images for the Masterverse Vintage Collection Beast Man. I have to admit, with so much of the spotlight lately focused on the movie-inspired Masters of the Universe Chronicles and the Core line supporting the upcoming film, I have been wondering how the Masterverse Vintage Collection would continue to evolve alongside those newer initiatives. Back in November 2025, we reported that Evil-Lyn and Wundar were lined up for future releases in this Walmart exclusive sub-line, which already felt like a strong signal that Mattel intended to keep building out the vintage inspired roster in the larger Masterverse scale. What I did not expect, however, was Beast Man suddenly entering the conversation, and I have to say that kind of unexpected reveal is exactly the sort of moment that keeps this hobby fun for me. The character’s inclusion first surfaced through the HEO website via Die Welt der Meister Magazin, confirming that Skeletor’s savage enforcer would indeed be joining the Masterverse Vintage Collection lineup. Now that the official images are out, we can finally see how Mattel translated Beast Man into this scale, and what immediately jumps out to me is just how heavily the figure leans into his vintage design language. That is something I absolutely love about the Masterverse Vintage Collection, because the whole point of this sub-line is to celebrate that unmistakable 1982 DNA while bringing it into a larger modern format. From the overall look to the familiar aesthetic cues that echo the original figure, Beast Man feels very much in line with what this collection is trying to accomplish. If the current pattern holds, there is a strong chance this figure could surface during a future Walmart Collector Con event, as the Masterverse Vintage Collection has remained under Walmart’s exclusive umbrella for the time being. Even with Mattel leaning heavily into the cinematic push right now, seeing Beast Man join the lineup is reassuring for collectors who love the classic era of Masters of the Universe, and it nudges the Masterverse Vintage Collection one step closer to recreating that original roster in modern form.

Masterverse Vintage Collection Beast Man Official 1

Beast Man is posed mid swing with his whip extended in front of him, the long black lash curling outward as his left arm stretches forward and his right arm pulls back. The figure features bright orange fur texture across the torso and limbs, a red fur collar framing the neck and shoulders, red shoulder armor and wrist guards, and a light blue loincloth secured by a tan belt with a circular buckle. Brown strapped boots wrap around the lower legs, while the head sculpt shows his open mouth with fangs and pointed ears flaring out from the sides of the head.

Masterverse Vintage Collection Beast Man Official 2

The whip is the clear focus here, coiling across the foreground in a wide looping arc while Beast Man grips the handle firmly in his right hand. His red shoulder armor sits over the thick red fur collar that wraps around the neck, and the light blue loincloth hangs from a tan belt with a circular buckle at the waist. Brown strapped boots cover the lower legs, and the orange fur texture runs consistently across the arms, torso, and legs while the figure leans slightly forward in the middle of the whip swing.

Masterverse Vintage Collection Beast Man Official 4

The hands are fully opened with long sculpted fingers spread wide, showing the clawed fingertips and the detailed creases running across the palms. Each hand has a slightly curved pose that gives them a grasping look, with the orange fur texture stopping at the wrists where the red wrist guards wrap around the forearms. The sculpted fingernails are pointed and slightly extended, giving the hands a sharp, claw-like appearance as they reach forward.

Masterverse Vintage Collection Beast Man Official 3

Beast Man is shown from the rear with his right arm raised high, gripping a long black whip that arcs outward and trails behind him in a wide curve. The figure features bright orange fur texture across the body, a large red fur collar around the neck and shoulders, red shoulder armor and wrist guards, and a tan belt with a circular buckle above a light blue loincloth. Brown strapped boots wrap around the lower legs with additional banding details, while the head sculpt shows the back of his mane and ears as he twists slightly at the waist while cracking the whip overhead.

Huge thanks to Masterversal Toyhunter for pointing us in the direction of in-box images of the Masterverse Vintage Collection Teela, and I have to say this is exactly the kind of early peek that gets me genuinely excited as a collector because up until now we had only been working off official product shots of the figure itself, which are great, but there is always something special about finally seeing the packaging and how Mattel is framing a release visually. This Teela went up for preorder during the Walmart Collector Con October 2025 edition, and at the time it felt like one of those drops that came out of nowhere given that the New Eternia version had just come out. Seeing the box art now really helps complete the picture, especially for those of us who care just as much about shelf presence as we do the figure inside, and it gives us a better sense of how this Vintage Collection release fits alongside the rest of the Masterverse lineup.

Teela Masterverse Vintage Collection In-Hand Box Front copy

The back of the box immediately gives me that classic Masters of the Universe energy, leaning hard into a vintage presentation that feels pulled straight from the early days of the line. The layout balances illustrated action up top with clean, clearly framed figure callouts below, and the overall composition echoes the visual storytelling style long associated with Errol McCarthy’s work without trying to reinvent it. I like how it feels confident and familiar, using bold colors and straightforward character moments to set the tone, almost like it is reminding you what shelf presence looked like when MOTU first locked in its identity.

Teela Masterverse Vintage Collection In-Hand Box Back copy

The artwork shows Teela mid-stride, leaning forward with her staff extended as she closes the distance, her white outfit, gold bracers, and tall boots rendered with clean lines and confident proportions. Her hair flows back under the snake headdress as the staff curves toward two approaching foes, with Beast Man getting ready for attack and Skeletor bracing himself in the distance, both clearly reacting to her advance. I like how her pose feels purposeful and controlled, using forward motion and body angle to sell the moment without clutter, keeping the focus squarely on her movement and the reach of that staff.

Teela Masterverse Vintage Collection In-Hand Box Back Art

Here is the original artwork and this illustration offers another example of McCarthy’s distinctive approach to landscape design. In this scene, Teela discreetly observes Skeletor and Beast Man, contemplating their nefarious activities from a concealed vantage point. The copse of trees in the background is particularly notable for its thoughtful design, blending stylized natural elements with the overarching tension of the moment. McCarthy’s clever arrangement of these trees adds depth and atmosphere to the composition, while subtly framing the narrative conflict between the characters.

Walmart is pulling back the curtain a little more for their upcoming October 2025 Walmart Collector Con, and I couldn’t be more excited to share what’s surfacing! Hot on the heels of today’s discovery of the 200x MOTU Origins Samurai He-Man listing, another gem has appeared on Walmart’s preview page in the form a Masterverse Vintage Collection Teela listing! While we don’t yet know what this figure will look like, just the listing alone is enough to get us excited, especially since the Vintage Collection branding suggests we’re in for something really special that pays homage to the classic roots of Masters of the Universe. And if that wasn’t enough to get the anticipation flowing, we can look forward to some killer packaging because Nate Baertsch is expected to work his incredible magic once again, channeling the legendary style of Errol McCarthy’s original MOTU illustrations for the box back art. With this combo of vintage inspiration and modern Masterverse detail, Walmart Collector Con October 2025 is shaping up to be one heck of a showcase although we are not sure if these listings were meant for prying eyes!

With some fresh sleuthing, we now have solid confirmation that Evil Lyn is officially headed to the Masterverse Vintage Collection, and I have to say, I am fired up about this one because the details are pretty amazing. As we reported back in September 2024, an anonymous source reported that a vintage inspired Evil Lyn was deep into development for this subline and it’s been radio silent since then as we’ve looking for clues ever since. Sometimes we get early information that does not materialize for months or even years in this case but what really gets me excited is imagining how she is going to look in that retro influenced packaging style that instantly taps into that Classics era vibe, complete with throwback illustrated card art that is inspired by Errol McCarthy. As we reported well over a year ago, this Evil-Lyn is reported to come with yellow skin but we are not sure now that we have seen what she is packed with. Nonetheless, with concrete details now surfacing about her design direction, this makes me feel like the Masterverse Vintage Collection is starting to shape up into something genuinely special for long time fans and newcomers who love that vintage soul paired with modern look of the line.

Figure Details

To make things even sweeter, the figure details we’ve uncovered paint a really exciting picture of how this Masterverse Vintage Collection version of Evil Lyn is shaping up. She’s built on a fully articulated body with 30 points of movement and she’ll come equipped with a dramatic cape that adds a ton of presence when displayed. Even better, she also comes with her signature staff and features three different interchangeable heads that include a fire effect piece and a metallic orb option, giving collectors multiple looks and display styles right out of the box. We’ve seen quite a few head sculpts for

Errol McCarthy Art

We can’t wait to see what her box art looks as it will most likely be based off of the classic art from Errol McCarthy. This scene presents a complex interplay of elements, centered around Evil-Lyn’s magical prowess, which is subtly conveyed through her act of spying. However, the most intriguing aspect of the illustration is her concealment within the swamp. The artwork emphasizes her complete ease and comfort in this hostile environment, surrounded by insects and serpents. This detail reinforces her alignment with darker, more mysterious forces, and underscores her mastery not only of magic but also of the natural dangers that inhabit Eternia’s more perilous regions. McCarthy’s attention to these details adds depth to Evil-Lyn’s character, highlighting her adaptability and fearlessness.

Evil-Lyn Classics

This would make the fifth version Evil-Lyn in the Masterverse line and we are guessing that this Vintage Collection version is figure everyone has been waiting for. Although her Masters of the Universe Revelation figure had some promise at showing us a classic Lyn, the figure design was based too much on her cartoon appearance. The next two Evil-Lyn figure were also from the Masters of the Universe Revelation line plus her upcoming New Eternia release, there are lots of Linny’s to choose from. It’s exciting to see an Evil-Lyn that cold payy homage to her MOTU Classics era figure!

It would be amazing if Evil-Lyn came packed with Screeech as it would pay homage to how she was packed in the MOTU Classics line!

Here is an image of Evil-Lyn and Screeech and if they were released as a two-pack, it would make the first figure/creature set in the Masterverse line.

Raised alone by her father in the ruins of Zalesia, Evelyn left her home in a fit of teenage rebellion. Taking the name Evil-Lyn, she travelled Eternia learning from many of its great masters the ways of magic and the dark arts. While searching for new ways to increase her power, she met and fell in love with an ambitious alchemist named Keldor, and agreed to join his cause. After Keldor was transformed into Skeletor, he lost all emotional attachments to Evil-Lyn, and she began to scheme against him.

UPDATE: Official Images

Not only did we get a sneak peek at the product up for Walmart Collector Con October 2025, we now have the Official Images for the Masterverse Vintage Collection Teela! We are finally getting a classic looking Teela!

This illustration offers another example of McCarthy’s distinctive approach to landscape design.

MOTU Classics Teela

From the fur-lined shoulders to the intricate leaf details on the leotard, the sculpting is on point. Teela’s sculpted arm bands, gauntlets, and signature boots give her even more personality. While some of these parts might be reused on future figures, they’ll never look as sharp and iconic as they do on Teela. Speaking of iconic…Teela’s regular head sculpt is a showstopper! It’s hands down one of the best female faces the Four Horsemen have ever created. I’ve followed their work for years, and while their sculpts are always impressive, this Teela has a face that’s simply stunning, something you rarely see in mass production.

Faker Coming to the Masterverse Vintage Collection

We’ve done some spelunking on Walmart’s website and have come across a listing for a Masterverse Vintage Collection Faker, which has yet to be announced or revealed. With a Vintage Collection Skeletor and Zodac revealed, and our report of a yellow skinned Evil-Lyn making her way to the line, Faker adds yet another Evil Warrior to the mix and we can’t wait to see how this figure will turn out! As the Masterverse Vintage Collection artwork is heavily drawing upon inspiration from the artist Errol McCarthy, we can get a sense of what the box art will look as well as the figure as we revisit the Masters of the Universe Classics design. With Faker coming to the line, this will pave the way for The Most Powerful Man in the Universe as we are sure he will be a repaint of Faker. Who will come first is a mystery but Faker is definitely coming and we hope to see him make an appearance when Mattel drops their new figure assortments and reveals in March 2025. We’ve only seen these figures offered at Walmart, which makes us think that this line will be exclusive to the online retailer until we hear otherwise.

Faker Vintage Artwork

We are hoping that @natebaertschart continues to lend his mad skills to the box art as the iconic scene, first illustrated by Errol McCarthy shows clash between Faker and The Most Powerful Man in the Universe. The atmospheric glow behind Faker is executed with subtlety, effectively distinguishing him from the surrounding background. He-Man, in stark contrast, is depicted with an unusually intense, even murderous, expression, adding tension to the scene. While McCarthy’s illustrations are typically restrained in their portrayal of physical conflict, this image suggests an underlying threat of violence. The implied aggression, rather than overt brutality, reflects McCarthy’s ability to evoke a powerful emotional response while maintaining the aesthetic balance and composure characteristic of his work.

MOTU Classics Faker

The basic sculpt here is identical to the MOTU Classics He-Man figure, from his boots to his gauntlets—and honestly, that’s exactly how it should be! This is who the character is, and changing anything beyond a straight repaint would be a mistake. Sure, I have some gripes about paying premium prices for a repaint, but altering the core figure would’ve been the wrong move. Now, what does stand out is the addition of Skeletor’s armor! The piece that covers his shoulders and torso is a direct reuse from the Skeletor figure, just like the original. But that’s what makes it faithful to the original, and the Classics line is all about staying true to that retro charm.

This version of Faker, who came with a gaggle of weapons and extra heads, was designed by Super7 for the Ultimate line!

Masterverse New Eternia Faker

Faker has already been released a couple times in the Masterverse line and, although the Masters of the Universe Revelation Faker was a cool concept from the Netflix Animated series, fans were lacking the nod to the vintage Faker and this New Eternia version hits the nail on the head!

In traditional Toy Habits fashion, we’ve come across yet another Masterverse Vintage Collection figure listing on Walmart’s website! This time around, we found that Man At Arms is coming to the MOTU Masterverse Vintage Collection Line! With a Vintage Collection Skeletor, Faker, Zodac and Stratos revealed, plus our report of a yellow skinned Evil-Lyn, making their way to the line, Man At Arms adds yet another Heroic Warrior to the line! This would be the fourth Man At Arms in the Masterverse line, but you can never get enough Man At Arms! As the Masterverse Vintage Collection artwork is heavily drawing upon inspiration from the artist Errol McCarthy, we can get a sense of what the box art will look as well as the figure as we revisit the Masters of the Universe Classics design. Man At Arms Vintage Artwork

We are likely to see Man At Arms’ box art pay homage to his vintage artwork, which also teases a classic Teela as well! There is some president for Masterverse figures coming from box art teases and we are sure that a classic Teela will be on her way at some point. We are hoping that @natebaertschart continues to lend his amazing artistic skills to the box art as the iconic scene, first illustrated by Errol McCarthy illustrates a mustache-less Man At Arms scouting the hills of Eternia with Teela following behind. This is a classic card back art and the caption reads “Man At Arms and Teela scout the borders of Eternia for signs of lurking evil!.” The artwork captures the essence of the character and the overall fantasy theme of the MOTU line. Man At Arms was known as a the Heroic Master of Weapons, and was of course a member of the Heroic Warriors and He-Man’s right hand man! The original Man At Arms figure was part of the first wave of Masters of the Universe action figures introduced by Mattel and was mustache-less. It’s not until later when subsequent more modern figures were released that we saw Man At Arms with his classic Tom Selleck stache!

MOTU Classics Man At Arms

The MOTU Classics Man At Arms figure was released in 2009 and he featured two heads so you can display him with or without stache! The MOTU Classics figures were featured on cards with green stonework and a cosmic scene with lightning effects. He included his signature club, a longer dagger, a sword and a small pistol.

Man-At-Arms

His bio read’ “For two centuries, the Eternian weapons master and combat instructor to the loyal family has been called the “Man At Arms” . Trained by renowned tactician Dekker and a veteran of the Great Unrest, Duncan was asked by King Randor to step into this position and fortify his guard with an elite strike force which he named The Masters of the Universe. In addition to his skills in combat, Duncan is also a great inventor and helped construct an electronic version of the Power Sword for Adam to use until he could unite both haves of the Grayskull’s sword. Man At Arms and his adopted daughter Teela often scout the borders of Eternia for signs of lurking evil.”

Man At Arms comes sporting his classic orange armor that wraps his left shoulder and left ankle. His back also has places for him to stow his weapons. This figure comes packed with both his classic mustache-less vintage style head sculpt, and his Selleck style mustache face as well. Man At Arms helmet also included those classic red dots which is a signature feature of that rare vintage figure releases. Overall, the MOTU Classics version of Man At Arms really captured the signature look of his vintage counterpart and is a must have for any MOTU collector. If you still want to pick one of these figures up on the aftermarket you can find him HERE.

Masterverse New Eternia Man Art Arms

Man At Arms was released in the Masterverse line under the New Eternia Subline. This version brought us a classic looking Man At Arms along with some original figure concepts. The overall figure sculpt was one of the best Man-At-Arms designs we’ve seen since the MOTU Classics era! This version of Man-At-Arms was so versatile and you can change up the look with a switch of the helmet or, if you choose, have no helmet at all. It’s cool to see MAA’s face without his helmet and the green balaclava is very detailed and even has space for his ears and, by the looks of it. it appears to be mechanically enhanced! Man-At-Arms comes with an extra set of fisted hands, a mace, a ball and chain mace attachment, and an extra head sculpt sans mustache, and a classic style helmet.

Masters of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia Man-At-Arms 2

Man-At-Arm’s armor is so vibrant and it’s the perfect shade of orange that compliments his green suit (if that really is a body suit)! The new loin cloth is a great addition to the figure as it separates this figure from the rest.

New-Eternia-Man-At-Arms-Masterverse-Wave-11-1
New-Eternia-Man-At-Arms-Masterverse-Wave-11-4

The mace has a lighter orange, almost metallic tinge to it while the ball is a nice orange that closely matches MAA’s armor. The ball and chain attachment can fit on to the end of the handle by popping off the solid ball at the top of the mace. I am not too fond of the execution of the ball and chain accessory as it looks odd if it’s not in the down position.

Deluxe Revelation Man At Arms

In Man-At-Arms outcast look, he has a simple green outfit that consists of a shirt, that has some cool texturing to it and it looks like it has been sewn or peiced together with scraps of fabric. The head sculpt captures his look from the Masters of the Universe Revelation episode, The Most Dangerous Man in Eternia. He comes with an orange plastic scarf, a utility belt that is removable, a plastic skirt across his waist, and his pants look like they are tucked into his boots.

This version of Man-At-Arms was from the Masters of the Universe Revelation episode, The Most Dangerous Man in Eternia! According to the Wiki Grayskull: “Teela is surprised when the one pilgrim who fought back turns out to be her adoptive father, [Dunan]. Although glad to see her again, he refuses to help forge the two halves of the Sword of Power, reminding them that he is forbidden to weld anything by Royal decree. He then reveals that the exchanged water he collected is not for himself, but for a sick friend he is looking after in his wooden cabin: Orko. Also present is Roboto, who, having been created by Duncan, sees himself as a brother of sorts to Teela. Duncan refuses to join Teela’s quest, but Orko begs to be allowed to join them on one last adventure. Roboto, possessing all of his creator’s memories, offers his services, and unlike Duncan, is willing to reforge the sword. When Duncan picks up his old helmet (which he had been using as a fruit bowl) and says he’ll follow allong, Teela changes her mind. With Roboto to do the forging, Man-At-Arms could better spend his time protecting the Sorceress at Castle Grayskull.”

MAA’s suited up look where he is carrying the large laser canon is amazing! The orange chest armor is a new piece and kudos to Mattel for not simply reusing the first version of his armor. It has some painted accents that bring out the detail in the armor and it goes all the way down to the waist. The back of the armor is rather plain but has a nice defining line to the back. The oversized shin armor is apropos for MAA and the colors tie in with his armor overall! They appear to fit very snug over his boots and they look amazing!

In these side views, we can get a better look at the canon detail as it has some gold and light blue paint apps on it. You can also see the forearm mounted blaster and it fits like a glove with some yellow paint app on the side to accentuate the large wire feeding into the laster. You can also get a fanstic look at the black, oversized shoulder armor with large silver rivets. This MAA looks simply outstanding!

It’s also cool to see a comparison of this version with the New Eternia version and the MOTU Classics release. Back on February 12, 2025, we reported that Stratos, the heroic Winged Warrior, was coming to the Masterverse Vintage Collection. During Mattel’s Masterverse Fall Catalog reveal of figures, where we saw all of our predictions come to fruition as we saw the Stratos Masterverse Vintage Collection confirmed, in all of his Avion glory. Mattel has not confirmed the line as being exclusive to Walmart, but this is the only way you can get the Vintage Collection figures in the U.S., which is a bummer to most collectors as these figures usually are tied to a Walmart Collector Con, like Vintage Collection Faker was recently and Skeletor and Zodac were back in October 2024. The line is shaping up nicely, with some classic figures kicking off the line. Let’s take a close look at the Stratos Masterverse Vintage Collection figure and also compare him, side-by-side, with his New Eternia counterpart. We also have new official figure details, which you can see below!

New-Eternia-Masterverse-Fall-2025-Catalog

May 3, 2025 Update: Official Figure Details

We now have the official figure description of Statos, which has some really cool features! Here is what we found:

“This Masters of the Universe Vintage Collection action figure of Stratos is designed at Masterverse 7-inch scale with 30 points of articulation. This collectable design of the MOTU Bird People Leader is inspired by the original MOTU toy design. This glass-eyed figure comes with removable wings and chest harness/jetpack and a second set of halter/backpack and wings in an alternate color, and an extra set of hands. The leader of the Bird People of Avion comes beautifully packaged in a window box suitable for display.”

April 5, 2025: Stratos Confirmed

As we get a closer look at Stratos from the Masterverse Fall Catalog 2025 image, he is much like his first New Eternia Masterverse figure, with some subtle differences.

Stratos-Masterverse-Vintage-Collection-MOTU-1

On his Vintage Collection figure, he has a darker gray buck and his wings, fury loin cloth, and his jet pack seem to be much darker and glossier in tone. His head sculpt is updated with larger goggles on his helmet and more defined facial features. For example, his lips and his nose have more depth to them. His chest harness also mirrors the vintage figure design with features and straps that run the length of his torso.

Stratos Coming to Vintage Collection

In our usual hunting around Walmart’s website, we’ve come across yet another Masterverse Vintage Collection figure listing! This time around, we found that Stratos is coming to the MOTU Masterverse Vintage Collection Line! With a Vintage Collection Skeletor and Zodac revealed, and our report of a yellow skinned Evil-Lyn, and Faker making their way to the line, Stratos adds yet another Heroic Warrior to the mix and we can’t wait to see how this figure will turn out! Stratos, Evil-Lyn, or Stratos have yet to be officially announced but our source is pretty accurate. As the Masterverse Vintage Collection artwork is heavily drawing upon inspiration from the artist Errol McCarthy, we can get a sense of what the box art will look as well as the figure as we revisit the Masters of the Universe Classics design. With Stratos coming to the line, this will pave the way for The Most Powerful Man in the Universe as we are sure he will be a repaint of Faker. Who will come first is a mystery but Stratos and Faker are definitely coming and we hope to see them both make an appearance when Mattel drops their new figure assortments and reveals in March 2025. We’ve only seen these figures offered at Walmart, which makes us think that this line will be exclusive to the online retailer until we hear otherwise.

Stratos Vintage Artwork

We are likely to see Stratos’ box art pay homage to his vintage artwork, which also teases the yellow-skinned Evil-Lyn and Beast Man! There is some president for Masterverse figures coming from box art teases and we are sure that a Beast Man will be on the way at some point. As for the vintage card art, Stratos is known as a member of the Heroic Warriors and is often depicted as a guardian of Eternia, highlighting themes of bravery and heroism that resonate throughout the Masters of the Universe franchise. The original Stratos figure was part of the first wave of Masters of the Universe action figures introduced by Mattel. We are hoping that @natebaertschart continues to lend his amazing artistic skills to the box art as the iconic scene, first illustrated by Errol McCarthy shows Stratos soaring high above as Skeletor, Evil-Lyn and Beastman watch. This is a classic card back art and the caption reads “Stratos swoops down upon Skeletor & his Evil Warriors. In the illustrated scene, Stratos is usually portrayed as a heroic figure, showcasing his distinctive blue and red color scheme and winged harness. This design emphasizes his abilities and attributes, such as flight and agility. The artwork captures the essence of the character and the overall fantasy theme of the MOTU line.

MOTU Classics Stratos

The MOTU Classics Stratos figure was released in 2009 and he featured two package designs. The MOTU Classics figures were featured on cards with green stonework and a cosmic scene with lightning effects. The original release of Stratos in 2009 did not feature “The Original!” explosion on the front, which, in Mattel-speak, actually meant the opposite as this was designated for releases. He was rereleased several times over the years between 2010 to 2013.

Stratos

His bio read’ “Lord of Avion, a civilization of winged simians who live high on the peaks of the Mystic Mountains. Stratos is a brave honorable warrior allied with King Randor. Although all Avions have the ability to fly using the magical Emerald Staff, many, including Stratos, have augmented their armor with rocket packs and jets to increase their speed and distance. As a member of the Masters of the Universe, Stratos fights bravely against the evil forces of Skeletor.”

Stratos boasts a pair of red, feathery wings that are affixed to his arms by wrist bracers. As for the jetpack, Stratos has a harness that holds it in place on his back. Overall, it’s a simple design with feathers added at the shoulders, all molded in soft blue plastic. I really like the look of it; it has a retro sci-fi vibe, reminiscent of Buck Rogers. In terms of colors, the blue of the harness complements his furry loin cloth and contrasts nicely with the red of the wings and belt, as well as the grey boots, giving Stratos a look that’s understated but still appealing.

Masterverse New Eternia Stratos

Stratos was released in the Masterverse line under the New Eternia Subline. He had a very different look than previous versions of the heroic winged warrior as he has a face mask that plug into his belt! Some familiar pieces making their way back to the line are his Emerald Scepter of Avion and his classic red wings that go on his arms.

Here we can see a comparison of the MOTU Classics Stratos next to the Masterverse New Eternia Stratos. The great thing about the New Eternia figures, and Stratos in particular, is that you can dress him down to create more of the classic look we all know and love! Comparing him to his MOTU Classics figure, you can see he has a lighter skin tone and he is a more massive buck. His chest harness rests on his upper chest whereas the Classics version’s straps run all the way down to his lower abs. The wing design is much larger in the New Eternia version and you can see the changes they made to the lower half of his body. Here you can see the difference in the New Eternia foot design compared to the Classics version.

Since the Masterverse Vintage Collection line was seeminly dropped out of nowhere back when Skeletor officially kicked off the line, we’ve been eagerly waiting to see what they would do with the figures. The vintage Collection Skeletor had some great paint apps and details and it seems like that trend is continuing with the Masterverse Vintage Collection Zodac! Our good friend, Vex N Toys, did an AMAZING YouTube review on the figure and sent us some very cool pics, highlighting aspects of the figure that Mattel did not reveal to collectors! We love seeing these types of details and we are happy that Vex N Toys sent us these pics so we can share them with you. For more details on the figure design itself, check out Vex N Toys review on his YouTube Channel as he strips him down to his hairy tight n curlys!

Zodac-Masterverse-Vintage-Collection-VexNToys

Vex N Toys highlights a glow-in-the-dark feature with the chest symbol and his shield. Althought the glow-in-the-dark effect does not last very long, he also focuses on the use of black lights as one of the standout aspects. Whether this was planned or not by Mattel, Zodac’s glow-in-the-dark shield and chest emblem react specifically to black light, and you can see some cool effects in his video!

Zodac-Masterverse-Vintage-Collection-VexNToys-1
Zodac-Masterverse-Vintage-Collection-VexNToys-2

Vex N Toys emphasizes that this lighting choice isn’t just for novelty—it’s a functional design that enhances photography and display options for collectors. The use of black light allows for sharper contrast and greater detail in low-light conditions, making the figure stand out in photos or on shelves with intentional lighting setups.

Here are some box and art shots from Roy Juarez’s reveal! Roy Juarez on Instagram delights up again with the Zodac MOTU Masterverse Vintage Collection Official Package Reveal with artwork by @axel.gimenez@dc_alonso_colorist. Packaged in the new red rock burst MOTU Vintage Collection packaging looks incredible! The rear of the packaging features classic illustrated artwork harking back to the original vintage 1980’s figures! This new Vintage Collection is a gorgeous new subline and Zodac is an incredible new addtion.

The rear vintage styled artwork features Zodak attacking the Heroic Warriors, which is a strange twist because his character was a neutral party nor hero nor evil warrior. He-Man is depicted in his more barbaric look.

We’ve done some spelunking on Walmart’s website and have come across a listing for a Masterverse Vintage Collection Faker, which has yet to be announced or revealed.

Faker Vintage Masters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

Looks like there is a new sub-line coming to Masterverse dubbed the Vintage Collection. Huge thanks to yo_tengo_el_poder (and to toyhuntershollow) for the heads up) that images of a Masterverse Vintage Collection Skeletor have surfaced! The Masters of the Universe Classics line was well loved and adored by MOTU collectors and many of them equate some of the Masterverse figures to MOTU Classics so this seems like a natural offshoot for the line. Skeletor comes packed in the Masterverse 2.0 style window display box that has a new gold label above the Masterverse logo dubbed “Vintage Collection.” Looks like there is a new sub-line coming to Masterverse dubbed the Vintage Collection and he is going up for preorder during Walmart Collector Con! The Masterverse Vintage Collection, seemingly debuting out of nowhere, is set to rival the Masters of the Universe Classics line as Mattel is going back to their roots with creating figures that pay homage to the designs from the 1980’s. Another amazing aspect of this line is that the art that is featured on the back of the boxes is inspired by Errol McCarthy. His artwork on the Masters Of The Universe is legendary and he is known for his cardback art for the vintage 1980s MOTU toy line. Errol is one of jut a few artists that helped define the amazing imagery of the MOTU brand and we get to see how MOTU illustration legend natebaertschart uses McCarthy’s work as inspiration for the Masterverse Vintage Collection box art. Skeletor is kicking off the line and we can’t wait for Zodac and the yellow-skinned Evil-Lyn as we heard she is also coming to the line but has not been officially announced yet. Before we dive into the in-hand images, we wanted to send a huge thank you to motuc_photos_by_djansky for sending us photos of Skelly so we can share them with you!

What stands out about the paint app on Skeletor’s figure are some of the washes that are used to accent and highlight various pieces of his armor. For example, the bones that crisscross his armor in the center are painted a lighter purple, which adds some depth and dimension to it. There are also some silver paint accents on his loin armor, which gives him a more premium look and feel.

From 2008-2020, Mattel and Super7 offered new figures, beasts, vehicles, and playsets, in what became the most comprehensive and longest-running MOTU line of all time. Classics items were offered online, direct to fans through the MattyCollector and Super7 websites. These Masters of the Universe Classics figures, sculpted by the Four Horsemen, aimed to be the definitive toy versions of these characters. They had a level of articulation previously unseen in MOTU figures, as well as full accessories. The very limited releases of these toys resulted in high aftemarket prices online, sometimes within hours of their release.

About Zodac

Zodac is an enigmatic cosmic enforcer in the Masters of the Universe mythos. In general, the character is portrayed as being neutral in the battle between good and evil. However, he has also been presented as an evil warrior, and sometimes a hero in various forms of the continuity, and stages of his character development. Although the original toy was labeled “Zodac,” the spelling of the character’s name has varied between “Zodac” and “Zodak.” When the character was redesigned in 2002, he was remodeled as a black man to add more racial diversity to the Masters of the Universe brand, and the spelling “Zodak” was settled upon. In the Masters of the Universe Classics toy line, the two designs were recognized as separate, distinct characters, with Zodak adopting the name in honor of his colleague, the original Zodac.

The new Masterverse Vintage Collection Box Art pays homage to the classic works of Errol McCarthy, a classic MOTU illustrator.

With the reveal of the Masterverse Vintage Collection Skeletor, the new Masters of the Universe subline is getting a breath of fresh air! Not only are we getting Masterverse figures that resemble MOTU Classics figures, we are getting new box art illustrations that pay homage to Errol McCarthy. His work on the Masters Of The Universe is legendary. He is known for his cardback art for the vintage 1980s MOTU toy line. Errol is one of jut a few artists that helped define the amazing imagery of the MOTU brand and it’s amazing to see new illustrations pay tribute to this legend! In this article, we explore Errol’s work and also provide some inspiration drawing upon the MOTU Classics figure designs for what the new Masterverse vintage collection could look like! We know that a yellow-skinned Evil-Lyn is in the works as well, which leans very heavily into her MOTU Classics design.

Skeletor

The twilight glow in this illustration creates a striking and atmospheric effect, setting the stage for Skeletor’s ominous approach toward Castle Grayskull. His presence, imbued with a sense of malevolent intent, contrasts sharply with the fortress, which is strategically positioned atop a barren outcrop. This placement not only emphasizes the isolation and strategic importance of Castle Grayskull but also enhances the overall sense of foreboding that permeates the scene. The use of light and landscape highlights the tension between good and evil central to the narrative.

Here is the official hi-res box art for the Vintage Collection Skeletor Masterverse figure showing off the mad skills of @natebaertschart! You can see how the original McCarthy illustration influenced the new art but Nate made it all his own with captivating visuals and giving Skeletor more of a dominant sense of power.

Skeletor-Vintage-Collection-Masterverse-Vintage-Collection-Hi-Res-4

Not know what the Masterverse Vintage Collection will bring aside of the images we’ve seen of Skeletor, we feel like this line could reignite the Masterverse line by going back to more of a Masters of the Universe Classics look and feel of the figures. It could also be the case where the vintage collection leans heavily on the box illustrations while providing smaller updates to the figures. Only time will tell but this in an exciting subline for Masterverse.

MOTU Classics Skeletor

MOTUC Skeletor is a thrilling tribute to the classic 1980s figure, capturing all the iconic details that made him legendary—from his menacing spiked forearms and shorter groin guard to his monstrous three-toed feet and the eerie, bright green-and-yellow skull face! But the real excitement comes in the upgrades from the master sculptors, The Four Horsemen. They’ve added a leathery texture to the groin guard and epaulets, giving them a rugged, battle-worn look. The hood has been reimagined to resemble real cloth, and the skull face? It’s more detailed and terrifying than ever before, making this Skeletor a standout in any collection!

He-Man

He-Man stands on watch alongside Teela and Man-At-Arms, an iconic scene that illustrates the distinctive approach of McCarthy in his depiction of landscapes. The rendering of the grasses, clouds, and hills demonstrates a stylized simplicity, reminiscent of the sharp, bold lines found in traditional linocut printmaking. This technique gives the natural elements a textured, almost handcrafted appearance, underscoring McCarthy’s artistic interpretation of the environment within the fantastical world of Eternia.

He-Man Vintage MAsters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

MOTU Classics He-Man

Super7 did an amazing job on this figure! The sculpting is incredibly clean and detailed, seamlessly blending the joints into the design so that every line and gap flows smoothly. For a character who’s mostly bare except for some furry underwear, that’s no small feat! He-Man feels solid in your hands, with just the right weight to him. The paintwork on his body is subtle yet effective, with light orange and tan hues that add depth and shading to his muscular frame. The attention to detail extends to his clothing and weapons, each piece carefully painted to enhance the figure’s overall quality. This He-Man truly looks and feels like a premium figure!

Teela

This illustration offers another example of McCarthy’s distinctive approach to landscape design.

Teela Vintage MAsters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

MOTU Classics Teela

From the fur-lined shoulders to the intricate leaf details on the leotard, the sculpting is on point. Teela’s sculpted arm bands, gauntlets, and signature boots give her even more personality. While some of these parts might be reused on future figures, they’ll never look as sharp and iconic as they do on Teela. Speaking of iconic—Teela’s regular head sculpt is a showstopper! It’s hands down one of the best female faces the Four Horsemen have ever created. I’ve followed their work for years, and while their sculpts are always impressive, this Teela has a face that’s simply stunning, something you rarely see in mass production.

MOTU-Classics-Teela-Front
MOTU-Classics-Teela-Back

Man-At-Arms

This illustration invites the viewer to engage their imagination, as it captures Man-At-Arms and Teela high in the hills, near the roaring cascade of a waterfall. Their posture suggests a vigilant search for impending danger. The surrounding pine trees, while rendered in a deceptively simple manner, contribute to the scene’s sense of isolation and wilderness. The simplicity of their forms belies the careful composition that enhances the tension of the characters’ quest, highlighting McCarthy’s ability to convey mood and atmosphere with minimal yet effective detail.

Man-At-Arms Vintage MAsters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

MOTU Classics Man-At-Arms

MAA reuses He-Man’s body, but with a vibrant green paint job and blue belt and wrist bracers. However, once you add his signature orange armor, he instantly becomes a standout, feeling like a completely unique character! The armor consists of four key pieces: a vest, a left shin guard, and two plates for his left arm. The chest and back piece is where the real magic happens—it’s an incredible sculpt featuring intricate hoses, wires, and impressive paint applications on the front. The back takes it up a notch with a molded rolled-up rucksack and clips to hold most of his weapons, which is one of the many things that make this figure so exciting! Another fantastic touch is how Mattel made his arm guard into two pieces, ensuring it doesn’t hinder his elbow articulation. It’s the little details like this that truly elevate the figure!

Stratos

The winged warrior Stratos takes the evil forces by surprise in this dynamic scene. Notably, Skeletor is so startled by the sudden appearance of his adversary that he drops his Havoc Staff, a rare moment of vulnerability. The dramatic geological formations of the mountaintop provide a striking backdrop, enhancing the tension of the encounter. McCarthy’s clever use of shadow plays a key role in this composition, not only adding depth to the landscape but also emphasizing the looming threat of Stratos’ attack. This strategic use of light and shadow further elevates the visual impact of the piece.

Stratos Vintage Masters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

MOTU Classics Stratos

Just like the rest of the MOTU Classics lineup, Stratos is a brilliant homage to the original artwork found on the back of the 1980s packaging! While the sculpt stays true to the classic figure, it also includes some awesome new details that make it stand out. One of the coolest updates is his jetpack harness. It features a small oval buckle that’s more than just a design touch—it’s a nod to the original package art. On the 1980s figure, the buckle was an actual clasp holding the jetpack in place, but the Horsemen chose to follow the artwork and sculpted it as a buckle, adding a nostalgic twist. Don’t worry though, the jetpack is still removable via some cleverly hidden tabs on the back! While Stratos’s body mostly reuses parts from Beast Man, there’s a neat difference—he’s got unique feet without the clawed toes, giving him a more streamlined look. These subtle changes help elevate Stratos while keeping his roots firmly in the vintage vibe.

Stratos Masters of the Universe Classics and Vintage Figure

Zodac

This image is central to one of the enduring controversies within the Masters of the Universe lore! Is Zodac an evil warrior, heroic warrior, or a neutral figure? In this particular illustration, Zodac is unmistakably depicted as attacking the heroic warriors, leaving little room for ambiguity regarding his allegiance. The accompanying caption on the card back further reinforces this portrayal, aligning Zodac with the forces of evil in this context. This representation sparked debate among fans and collectors, highlighting the fluid nature of character alignment in the MOTU narrative.

Zodac Vintage Masters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

MOTU Classics Zodac

Zodac is a true mix-and-match masterpiece, just like in the original line! He’s built using parts from nearly every other figure early in the series, with Skeletor’s arms and legs, He-Man’s loincloth, and Beast Man’s hairy chest. But what really makes Zodac stand out are his new pieces—his head, along with his armor and pistol. The armor and pistol are faithful updates to the originals, but with a few fantastic improvements. The gun is like a prop replica of the classic version, while the front of the armor is also true to the vintage look. The back, however, features some slick new details! The straps now have bullets for his pistol, and the back of the armor is redesigned to give off a cool jetpack vibe. What really elevates it is the seamless integration of the straps and back, a detail that shows just how much precision and care went into crafting this figure. Zodac may be pieced together from familiar parts, but with these upgrades, he’s absolutely a standout!

Mer-Man Vintage MAsters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

Mer-Man MOTU Classics

Faker

The atmospheric glow behind Faker is executed with subtlety, effectively distinguishing him from the surrounding background. He-Man, in stark contrast, is depicted with an unusually intense, even murderous, expression, adding tension to the scene. While McCarthy’s illustrations are typically restrained in their portrayal of physical conflict, this image suggests an underlying threat of violence. The implied aggression, rather than overt brutality, reflects McCarthy’s ability to evoke a powerful emotional response while maintaining the aesthetic balance and composure characteristic of his work.

Faker Vintage Masters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

MOTU Classics Faker

The basic sculpt here is identical to the classic He-Man figure, from his boots to his gauntlets—and honestly, that’s exactly how it should be! This is who the character is, and changing anything beyond a straight repaint would’ve been a mistake. Does it make a lot of sense? Not really—it didn’t back then, and it still doesn’t now. But that’s what makes it faithful to the original, and the Classics line is all about staying true to that retro charm.

MOTU-Classics-Super7-Ultimates-Faker

Evil-Lyn

Evil Lyn Vintage Masters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

MOTU Classics Evil-Lyn

The body and bodysuit are exactly the same as Teela’s, right down to the reversed gauntlets—even though the vintage artwork clearly shows them the other way around! Her body is molded in yellow, which can look a little too toy-like. It stays true to the line’s playful charm, making it a fun addition to any collection.

Evil Lyn Masters of the Universe Classics Figure 2010

Beast Man

This battle scene, set in a volcanic region of Eternia, captures a moment of tension and uncertainty. He-Man’s expression appears to reflect a degree of surprise at the sudden emergence of Beast Man, though it remains unclear whether the villain is advancing for battle or retreating from the confrontation. The swirling, brushed clouds in the background add a sense of movement and urgency, amplifying the drama of the encounter. The dynamic interplay between the figures and their surroundings highlights McCarthy’s ability to infuse even static images with a palpable sense of action.

Beast Man Vintage Masters of the Universe Card Art Errol McCarthy

MOTU Classics Beast Man

Beast Man introduced the now-iconic furry body to the MOTUC line, and it allowed the Four Horsemen (4H) to unleash some incredible detailing! The fur is rich with texture, yet it perfectly blends in with the overall aesthetic of the line. The head sculpt is outstanding, bursting with detail and showcasing an expression of pure, untamed rage—capturing the essence of Beast Man’s wild, dangerous persona. His chest armor, also packed with intricate sculpting, is a flawless update of the vintage design. It’s bulky, which is fantastic, because it adds heft to his otherwise lean furry body, giving Beast Man the imposing stature he deserves. The bicep armor sports a weathered, metallic texture, covered in battle scars, making him look like he’s seen countless fights.

Looks like there is a new sub-line coming to Masterverse dubbed the Vintage Collection. Not much is known aside from seeing the official images of the box front and the figure but could the Masterverse line be going back to Masters of the Universe Classics roots? The Masters of the Universe Classics line was well loved and adored by MOTU collectors and many of them equate some of the Masterverse figures to MOTU Classics so this seems like a natural offshoot for the line. Skeletor comes packed in the Masterverse 2.0 style window display box that has a new gold label above the Masterverse logo dubbed “Vintage Collection.” The box art pays homage to the illustration style of Errol McCarthy so it will be great to see what other box art looks like in the future! We know that Evil-Lyn is coming to the Masterverse Vintage Collection so it will be great to see her box art when it is completed.

We previously had reported that Evil-Lyn, Flying Fists He-Man, & Fisto were Coming to New Eternia Masterverse. Well we are definitely getting a New Eternia Masterverse Evil Lyn as reported in the Masterverse Wave 15 Figure Assortment and Official Images. Our anonymous source is now reporting that a classic yellow skinned version of Evil Lyn is coming to the new Masterverse Vintage Collection subline and that tooling is already complete! This makes total sense since we just got wind of a new Vintage Collection subline starting with Skeletor! If this is anything like the new Vintage Collection Skeletor, then we can expect to see her packaged in the same retro inspired packaging, will retro illustrated artwork and action feature highlights on the back. The Masters of the Universe Classics line was well loved and adored by MOTU collectors and many of them equate some of the Masterverse figures to MOTU Classics so this seems like a natural offshoot for the line. So this new yellow skinned version of Evil Lyn would fit right into this new Vintage Collection subline!

In a series of miscalculations, she helped release both King Hssss and Hordak from their inter-dimensional prisons. Evil-Lyn uses her crystal ball to foresee the evil future!
