The 2026 Gator has been rebuilt using the original 1986 Kenner release as its foundation while adding updated paint work and sharper body detailing throughout the vehicle.

• A newly designed Dusty Hayes figure is included and comes with two interchangeable masks, including an extended mask variation featuring an attached blast effect.
• One of the biggest upgrades is the addition of a transparent windshield, replacing the closed-off look collectors have long hoped would also be updated on the Hurricane.
• The off-road tires now feature deeper and more aggressive tread sculpting to give the vehicle a tougher appearance.
• An updated version of the “Electric Ouch” roof-mounted cannon has been added for Jeep Mode and is designed to remain compatible with the original 1985 Gator release. Interestingly, the vintage packaging originally referred to the weapon as the Atom Blaster.
• Additional footpegs have been added to the hydroplane section so more figures can ride along during display setups.
• A newly plated engine assembly has been created for the hydroplane mode and can also fit onto the original vintage Gator toy.
• Extra sculpted mechanical detailing has been added around the rear depth charge storage area.
• Two newly designed blast effects are included and can be attached to the cannons while the vehicle is displayed in assault mode.

The classic Gator vehicle and Dusty Hayes are looking great here, with Dusty wearing his signature blue and orange suit alongside his classic mask, which includes a sculpted blast effect piece. The open-top jeep has a clean orange body with stripe deco on the hood, chunky off-road tires, and a silver grille.

The hydroplane mode splits Gator into two distinct pieces, with the boat section featuring a sculpted water blast effect off the rear and a coiled energy weapon mounted on top of the detached roll cage chassis.

The depth charge is mounted on the rear of the boat, a compact cylindrical sculpt with ribbed detailing. The blast effect piece attached to the front cannon has a nice sense of volume and layered texture up close.

This four-view layout shows Gator from the top, rear, side in jeep mode, and side in hydroplane mode. The overhead views reveal the interior seating with two silver fuel tank sculpts flanking the cabin, while the side profile of the jeep highlights the roll bar with a mounted cannon and the proportions of the chunky wheel wells.

Four additional angles of Gator show the front, top, rear, and back tailgate views of the jeep mode. The top-down shot reveals the silver fuel tank nestled inside the open cabin, while the tailgate view shows sculpted panel lines and recessed slots in the rear bumper area.

Hurricane

The updated release features several refinements to the vehicle’s exterior, including enhanced paint applications, a newly armored undercarriage, updated door handle detailing, sculpted windshield wipers, and a redesigned hardtop section meant to resemble reinforced protection plating.

• A brand-new Hondo Maclean figure is included and comes packed with two interchangeable masks, one of which features an integrated blast effect attachment for a more action-focused display option.
• The vehicle now includes removable transparent headlights, while collectors continue hoping the line eventually moves toward fully clear or tinted windows instead of the original solid black finish.
• New optional decal sheets allow collectors to customize the hood area and rear-mounted spare tire with different display looks.
• Hondo also comes with additional handheld weapons inspired by the rare European Sea Attack Adventure Pack release from the 1980s.
• Four separate blast effects are included and can be mounted onto the vehicle while displayed in its combat configuration.

Hurricane takes the form of a ’57 Chevy with a teal body covered in flame deco that wraps from the front fenders up across the roof, and converts into a Field Command Post. The included figure wears a yellow and maroon suit with blue chest straps, and comes with two helmets, each featuring a distinct sculpted visor design.

The Field Command Post mode is on full display here, with the roof section raised into a tall turret platform that carries the same flame deco as the body. Missiles extend from the front bumper and side-mounted exhaust pipes.

The Stealth Submarine Cycle is a purple motorcycle that converts into a submarine, with a large cowled fairing featuring colorful striped deco panels along the sides. The included figure wears a green jacket over a blue outfit with dark boots, and comes with a helmet and a pair of Stiletto effects, which are sculpted energy blade pieces that attach to the figure rather than functioning as actual projectiles.

The sidecar is the piece that converts into the submarine, with its sleek tapered hull sporting pop-out stabilizer fins and dual cannons protruding from the nose. The motorcycle itself has a sculpted engine block and a single rear wheel, standing as a separate vehicle once the sidecar detaches.

The blast effect pieces on the Stealth Submarine Cycle are worth a closer look, with the missile pair firing from the submarine’s nose cannons trailing sculpted smoke and flame clouds that have a nice billowing shape. A separate smoke trail effect wraps behind the rear wheel of the motorcycle, adding to the overall sense of motion across the whole set.

A multi-angle breakdown covers the Stealth Submarine Cycle from six different views, including front, rear, top, and underside perspectives. The underside reveals the interior cockpit cavity with sculpted mechanical detailing.

The different angles and configurations are all laid out here, covering the closed sidecar in vehicle mode, the open fairing exposing the motorcycle underneath, and the full submarine configuration with its stabilizer fins deployed and cannons extended. Armored Assault Vehicle

The Armored Assault Vehicle is a black Bronco-style truck that converts into its weaponized assault configuration, with two Torch masks and a sculpted blast effect piece included alongside the figure. Cliff “Blaster” Dagger wears a purple shirt with a shoulder holster harness and dark pants, sporting a beret and an eyepatch that give him a distinct look.

The Armored Assault Vehicle’s weaponized mode features a hinged armored hood shield that flips up over the cabin and a rotating turret platform rising from the truck bed, with a mounted cannon firing a jagged blast effect piece. Rear-mounted missiles extend from the tailgate on fold-out rails, and the Venom symbol is printed on front of the vehicle.

The four-view breakdown covers the Armored Assault Vehicle in both standard and assault configurations alongside top-down perspectives of each. Hot off the press from Ramen Toy, we now have fresh, unedited photos showing the second test shot of the preproduction sample of the Mobula Venmon vehicle from their Makina Labs line, and wow, this is exciting to see take shape! Described as a mild-mannered sports coupe that transforms into a jet-propelled aircraft armed with destructive ordnance, this piece of engineering wizardry is inching closer to reality, and I can’t wait to see it in collectors’ hands and in person at New York Comic Con 2025. This latest test shot highlights the continued refinement of the vehicle, as Ramen Toy has stated that there are still some areas they are improving for fit and function. One thing you’ll notice right away is the difference in colors between the doors and the body, but don’t worry, that’s just a preproduction sample and will not be in the final release. It’s always a thrill to follow along with these developmental updates, as we get a behind-the-scenes look at how a complex vehicle like this evolves from prototype to final form. Best of all, Ramen Toy has confirmed that preorders will be opening during NYCC 2025, with delivery targeted for the first quarter of 2026, so the wait isn’t as far off as it might feel so mark those calendars, because this Mobula is shaping up to be a real game changer! The Mobula vehicle looks sharp in hand as you can see the rocket launcher system deployed from the hood. The transforming parts fold out into wing extensions on the sides and rear, giving it that jet-propelled aircraft vibe from the cartoon. The clear windows reveal a detailed interior, which really brings the model to life when viewed up close.

From the back you can really appreciate the engineering that went into the Mobula, with the standard tail lights and bumper design flipping to reveal the hidden jet thrusters. The panels swing open cleanly to expose the turbine detail inside, showing how the sleek coupe form transforms into a powerful aircraft mode. It’s a clever execution that blends the retro car look with functional transformation parts.

Ace also gave fans what they wanted in the form of a spring loaded mechanism that deploys the jets, which you can see (and hear) in the video below! The deployment sounds as good as it looks! Ka-CHUNK!

The underside of the Mobula reveals all the tucked-away mechanics, with the folding turbine parts, wheels, and panels neatly integrated to keep the car mode streamlined. Seeing these together up close really hits the nostalgia nerve. The Piranha sits low and wide in deep purple with its split nose, exposed wheels, and layered panel lines, and I like how the small color hits break up the body as it looks ready to dart forward. Jackhammer brings the muscle with its black pickup body, raised rear platform, and hinged sections that give it that modular, weaponized feel. Gator pops immediately with the teal body, flame deco on the hood and sides, and the tall rear section that adds height and presence while still keeping that classic jeep silhouette. Hurricane rounds things out in bright orange with a clean, boxy jeep design, chrome style wheels, and a MASK figure standing alongside it, which really helps lock in the scale and makes the whole display feel like a scene frozen mid mission.

MASK Wave 2 Early Intel and Reveal

Ever since San Diego Comic Con 2025, we’ve all been counting the days to find out which vehicles would complete Wave 2 of The Loyal Subjects M.A.S.K. line. When the Hurricane and Jack Hammer were first confirmed, speculation ran wild about what could possibly round out the wave. Well, the wait is finally over, and I couldn’t be more excited to share the news! After an awesome in-person chat with John from The Loyal Subjects at NYCC 2025, he revealed that the Piranha and Gator will be joining Wave 2, completing this iconic lineup in style! It’s been tough keeping this one under wraps, but the official confirmation finally dropped today during their MASK Monday social post, and it’s every bit as thrilling as we hoped. John also shared some fascinating behind-the-scenes details about Sly Rax’s figure design and how they approached capturing his look in toy form, which we’ll be diving into below.

They dropped the news on Instagram for MASK Monday and two of the vehicles are under different names. The Piranha has changed to the Stealth Submarine Cycle (SSC) and the Jackhammer has changed to the Armored Assault Vehcile (AAV):

We can’t wait to see effects that capture that classic animated style.

MASK Wave 2 SDCC Reveal

During their SDCC 2025 panel, The Loyal Subjects thrilled M.A.S.K. fans with an exciting first look at Wave 2 vehicles. The sneak peek confirmed that both the Jackhammer and Hurricane will be joining the lineup, marking the debut of these fan-favorite vehicles in the series. With two iconic vehicles leading the charge, Wave 2 is shaping up to be a strong follow-up for collectors and longtime fans alike.

This image showcases the packaging designs for the upcoming Wave 2 vehicles in The Loyal Subjects’ M.A.S.K. line, featuring Jackhammer and Hurricane. Both packages pay direct homage to the original Kenner releases, complete with vintage-style artwork, vehicle transformation callouts, and character portraits. Dusty “Powderkeg” Hayes is shown in his red, blue, and orange uniform, known for his role as a tracking and demolitions expert. At 25 years old, he works as a pizza cook and delivery man, previously an auto and marine stunt driver. He debuted in the cartoon episode “The Deathstone,” voiced by Doug Stone, and first appeared in comics in A Monster from VENOM. His Backlash mask, available in short and long variants, generates sonic waves and also appeared in both “The Deathstone” episode and the same mini comic.

Piranha

The Vintage Switch Blade

The M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) Switchblade is a vintage toy vehicle from the M.A.S.K. franchise, which was released in the mid-1980s and was a transforming helicopter. The Switchblade is notable for its ability to transform from a sleek motorcycle into a helicopter. In its motorcycle form, the Switchblade has a sporty aesthetic typical of 1980s design, with vibrant colors and decals. When transformed into helicopter mode, it features rotor blades that can spin, enhancing the play experience. M.A.S.K. was both a toy line created by Kenner and an animated television series, featuring a team of heroes and villains who utilized transforming vehicles and masks with special abilities.

Released in 1985 as part of the first wave of the M.A.S.K. toy line, Switchblade was piloted by Miles Mayhem, the leader of VENOM (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem), who wore the Viper mask. The vehicle transformed from a basic helicopter into a fighter jet with just a flip of the tail.

This was one of my favorite toys as a kid. It was just such a cool toy with awesome play features—the way the wings popped out when you flipped the tail was incredibly satisfying. It was so much fun flying it around the room, launching attacks on the M.A.S.K. agents from above.

Miles Mayhem was the main antagonist in M.A.S.K., serving as both an oil baron and a terrorist. He came packed with the Viper mask and his outfit resembled more a business suit.

Once you open the box you can see all the incredible pieces laid out in the plastic tray. Then the fun begins to put on the decals.

Here you can see the MDU with Matt Tracker and Bruce Soto inside the vehicle, plus Scott Tracker and T-Bob.

If you hit one of the buttons on the back of the trailer, you make the front grill pop out and you can make Miles “Wolf” Mayhem go flying! Bam!

You can slide the back section of the trailer open to reveal the command center and the missile launcher! Click the on button on the rear of the trailer cab and send that missile flying!

Detach of rear of the cab and you have a moon mobile! Lift the lid of the tow cover and it becomes a seat for Bruce Soto to rid in! Fold down T-Bob so he becomes a cute T-Bob and Scott Tracker in scooter mode!

MASK Wave 2 SDCC Reveal

History of the Short/Long Masks

Introduced in the first iteration and rollout of Series 1, MASK figures featured two versions of their masks. Most “short” masks most closely resembles the cartoon appearance and, for all purposes, is sought after by collectors due to it’s hard to find nature and short production run. Believed to be a choking hazard by many, Kenner made the mask longer, which actually introduces more of a choking hazard in our opinion, because you are more like not to choke on the short mask due to it’s size. We are not endorsing swallowing these masks but just trying to make a point.

Brad Turner

The brave pilot of the Condor will feature two versions of his signature Mask which he can use to create powerful Illusions to thwart Miles Mayhem!

Matt Trakker

The pilot of the Thunderhawk, with a new Spectrum Mask – which can unlock a toolkit of awesome and extraordinary powers to make sure the team comes out victorious!

Rhino

The Rhino is a large, expanded semi-cab that transforms into a mobile command center, missile base, and recon vehicle. It’s an incredibly cool and fun toy! The Rhino comes with not just one, but two figures: Bruce Sato and an alternate version of Matt Trakker.

It has an extended front, featuring a striking mix of burgundy red and silver chrome. The detailed mold includes sticker stripes on the sides for added character. Despite being scaled for smaller MASK figures, it’s still a sizable and impressive toy with twelve real rubber tires. The transparent windows, opening doors, and a detailed cab interior that fits two figures all add to its appeal. What’s truly impressive is that in truck mode, there’s no obvious indication that it transforms, making it look like a cool toy truck on its own.

Rhino is packed with hidden features, some usable in vehicle mode and others when deployed as a missile command post. In vehicle mode, the smokestacks turn into machine guns, the front grill becomes a battering ram, and the passenger side seat can eject a figure through the door—though the purpose of this feature remains unclear. Despite that, Rhino serves as a powerful attack vehicle while cruising on the highway. The toy is filled with various gimmicks and gadgets rather than a single transformation mode, making it incredibly fun to play with.

Matt’s figure in this set is a less iconic version of the MASK leader, wearing a brown jumpsuit and orange vest instead of his usual grey flight suit. The sculpting is mainly in the vest, with some nice silver accents, and the head sculpt appears to be the same as the one that comes with the Thunderhawk. Matt comes with the Ultra Flash mask, which is less iconic than Spectrum (ironically, since it’s the one featured in the MASK logo!). However, I really like the design—it has a robotic look, and the orange color complements his vest nicely. As the name implies, Ultra Flash’s power is to blind enemies.

While many kids probably preferred the Thunderhawk version of Matt, the Rhino was the only set to include the Bruce Sato figure. Bruce played a key role in the cartoon, making him an essential addition to any collection. The figure itself looks solid, sporting a jumpsuit, sculpted boots, and a black, detailed vest. However, like many MASK figures, he suffers from an unpainted face, lacking details that would highlight his facial features. Sato’s mask is called Lifter, and its power combines a forcefield with a tractor beam. The design of the mask is fairly decent, though it resembles more of a hood than a mask.

The Vintage Switch Blade

The M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) Switchblade is a vintage toy vehicle from the M.A.S.K. franchise, which was released in the mid-1980s and was a transforming helicopter. The Switchblade is notable for its ability to transform from a sleek motorcycle into a helicopter. In its motorcycle form, the Switchblade has a sporty aesthetic typical of 1980s design, with vibrant colors and decals. When transformed into helicopter mode, it features rotor blades that can spin, enhancing the play experience. M.A.S.K. was both a toy line created by Kenner and an animated television series, featuring a team of heroes and villains who utilized transforming vehicles and masks with special abilities.

Released in 1985 as part of the first wave of the M.A.S.K. toy line, Switchblade was piloted by Miles Mayhem, the leader of VENOM (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem), who wore the Viper mask. The vehicle transformed from a basic helicopter into a fighter jet with just a flip of the tail.

This was one of my favorite toys as a kid. It was just such a cool toy with awesome play features—the way the wings popped out when you flipped the tail was incredibly satisfying. It was so much fun flying it around the room, launching attacks on the M.A.S.K. agents from above.

Miles Mayhem was the main antagonist in M.A.S.K., serving as both an oil baron and a terrorist. He came packed with the Viper mask and his outfit resembled more a business suit.

Here is a look at the front and rear of the vehicle as you can see the headlight and taillight assemblies, which mirror actual Nissan 300zx car from the 1980’s. The front and rear bumpers are painted black and you can see the hinge on the right and left sides of bumper, allowing the wings to deploy in jet fighter mode.

The top of the vehicle reveals the paint apps applied on the hood and headlight assemblies. The same color can be found on the underside of the vehicle for the smaller wings that are deployed from the tires.

Mobula MAKINA Ramen Toy Prototype Revealed

Ramen Toy unveiled a prototype of their 4th vehicle in their MAKINA line dubbed the Mobula. Formerly known as the Purple Ray, the Mobula is one of V.E.N.O.M’s vehicles piloted by Vanessa Warfield, which It transforms from a lavender Nissan 300zx sports car to a stealth jet fighter. You might be wondering where the name Mobula comes from! Playing on the word Manta, the Mobula is a a devil ray smaller than a manta, with a long tail and a mouth situated on the underside. Paying homage to the M.A.S.K. animated appearance of the Manta, the Mobula blends the aesthetic with the a ton of playability that incorporates many features that the original toy from 1987 did not have!

In the animated series, Vanessa Warfield’s Manta was a formidable vehicle in V.E.N.O.M.’s arsenal. When transformed, it converted from a 300Z into a flying vehicle with wings that folded out, allowing it to engage in aerial combat.

There is so much attention to detail in this vehicle. In the original toy from 1987, the window “glass” was not present but Ramen Toy has added some finer details, like making the driver and passenger windows detach.

In the M.A.S.K. animated series, the Manta had Saw Blades that came out from the front of the car and the 1987 version was sorely missing this aspect. It is amazing to see the Mobula incorporate this aspect as it’s great to get a proper animated version of the vehicle.

On the hood of the vehicle, a set of 3 large missiles raises up, which looks amazing both in vehicle mode and aircraft mode.

The engineering on the vehicle is quite remarkable as the rear stabilizers are backed into the back of the vehicle!

They fold out and also extend using a small level that is found on the inside of the panels that open up, revealing the 3 large jet engines that give the Mobula the ability to take flight.

The details and ingenuity of the design do not stop at the exterior transformations. The seat also can turn into a single person aircraft, with a flight stick, fold out wings, and two small jet engines underneath the seat.

M.A.S.K. Trademark Renewal

Hold on to your butts! Back on January 30, 2024, Hasbro filed to review the trademark for their M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) toy line. We’ve been keeping tabs on Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Trademark renewals and Hasbro for their GI Joe line and we are elated to see that Hasbro has renewed one of the best toy lines from the 1980’s. Debuting in 1985, the Kenner toy line of secret task force M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) fighting the criminal organization V.E.N.O.M. (Vicious Evil Network Of Mayhem) debut. After the initial cartoon and toy line launch in 1985, the franchise spawned a variety of products, including four series of action figures, an animated television series, video games and comics. Collector’s have been waiting for a M.A.S.K. relaunch and hopefully this means that Hasbro will finally be doing something with the line instead of letting it die or whither on the vine.

M.A.S.K. Television Series

According to the M.A.S.K. Wiki, “a total of 75 syndicated episodes of M.A.S.K. were broadcast from 1985 to 1986. One of many cartoons produced during the 1980s as a vehicle for toy merchandising, M.A.S.K. (which is an acronym for the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand), was a hybrid of popular era cartoons G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero and The Transformers.”

M.A.S.K. vs. V.E.N.O.M.

M.A.S.K. (an acronym for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) is a special task force featuring an array of characters, led by Matt Trakker, with transforming vehicles engaged in an ongoing battle against the criminal organization V.E.N.O.M. (an acronym for Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem), with an emphasis on super-powered masks worn by the characters on the show. It is never made clear what sort of criminal organization V.E.N.O.M. is, exactly. They were not the typical world-conquering villains and their schemes mostly revolve around profiting from illegal activities and doing mercenary services.

M.A.S.K. Toy Line

M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) was a special toy line that was produced by Kenner in in 1985. M.A.S.K. was unique as it featured, what you would refer to as “normal” looking vehicles in a that fit a 2-inch action figure. Hidden inside the normal looking vehicles were hidden weapons and armor while also transforming into different vehicle types (such as a helicopter changing into a jet). One of the greatest aspects of the line was it featured featured a spring-loaded parts that assisted with the transformation of the vehicles. You also had to manually positioned parts and pieces to complete the transformation, which made the toys really fun to play with. There were also removable accessories and projectiles for certain vehicles, which added to the fun factor. Each vehicle included a figure and a removable mask which gave the figure different powers. The line was ahead of its time and had windowless boxes that contained the toy, a mini comic, and product catalogs.

Thunderkhawk

The very first M.A.S.K. that my parents bought for me was the Thunderhawk and was fell, hook line, and sinker for the line! Introduced in Wave 1, the Thunderhawk is a Chevy Camero, more specifally, the IROC-Z that, with the press of a button, tuned into a fighter jet that featured retractable wing cannons and 2 bombs that stowed underneath the car’s chassis.

Thunderhawk Box

One of the great things about the MASK box art as a whole is the bright colors. The red and yellow really stand out, which caught our eyes as kids. The front of the box featured an illustation of the vehicle in jet mode with a smaller product shot of the actual toy in vehicle mode. On the back of the box, it featured a blown up version of the toy in jet mode with the same image (just a little larger) of Matt Trakker and his spectrum mask!

Chevy Camero IROC-Z Mode

One of the cars we used to see back in 80’s was the Chevy Camaro IROC-Z, which the Thunderhawk was modeled after. It was a nice bright red with actual rubber tires! The purple stickers, which you had to apply yourself, were a cool contrast to the overall color of the vehicle that featured yellow lightning bolts.

Jet Fighter Mode

With a press of a button on the top of the car, the IROC-Z would change from a Chevy Camaro to a jet fighter and we can still hear that click of the gull-wing doors opening! Slide out the chrome cannons on the side you can you got yourself a makeshift wing, adding to the effect of the vehicle in jet mode!

When looking at the rear of the vehicle, the bumper also raised up to reveal the jet engies and a MASK license plate!

Matt Trakker Figure

Introduced in the first iteration and rollout of Series 1, the Matt Trakker figure featured two versions of the Spectrum mask. Most The “short” mask most closely resembles the cartoon appearance and, for all purposes, is sought after by collectors due to it’s hard to find nature and short production run. Believed to be a choking hazard by many, Kenner made the mask longer, which actually introduces more of a choking hazard in our opinion, because you are more like not to choke on the short mask due to it’s size. We are not endorsing swallowing these masks but just trying to make a point. He featured blonde (yellow) hair with a gray and red flight suit with brown straps. The Spectrum mask, in the cartoon, creates a high frequency radio interference, which was useful in the fight against VENOM!

Cartoon Appearance

Matt Trakker is the founder and leader of M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand). After helping his brother Andy Trakker, and now arch enemy, Miles Mayhem, develop the MASK technology, Matt is in constant pursuit of Mayhem after he killed his brother and stole half of the tech and formed the criminal orginazition V.E.N.O.M.. To honor his brother’s death, Trakker created M.A.S.K. to fight crime and counter the threats from Mayhem’s evil organization.

Looking amazing in alternate mode, you can see the periscope for the submarine mode and how it looks when it retracted on the top of the roof in vehicle mode. The attention to detail is stunning and, from the view in car mode, you can see the Great White logo!

The top view shows the full submarine mode with fins and engines extended! The spring loaded rear wheels activate to reveal turbine thrusters alongside bonnet fin extensions. Bonnet fins can be further extended to meet the windshield via option parts stored under the car. Back fins extend via rotation from under the car to the back of the vehicle. The sub looks amazing from the front and the back

The front and rear of the vehicle also looks realistic and pays homage to the Porche 928 vehicle with the slopped hatchback and the front end! As an added feature, the spring loaded “headlight” torpedoes launch via depressing on headlights of the vehicle.

In submarine mode, here are some shots there are multiple fins that come up from the hood and and from the rear of the vehicle.

The profile of the car looks slick, even down to the wheels that pay homage to the Porsche 928! Underneath the vehicle you can see how the propulsion systems are integrated into wheels and they are streamlined enough not to impede the rolling wheels.

Digital Renders and Prototypes

Back on March 31, 2022, Ramen Toy fired their opening salvo in what would kick off their MAKINA line, which are paying homage to the beloved Mobile Armored Strike Kommand (M.A.S.K.) line from the 80’s. In a few simple words, “Posting this to get the ball rolling…Code Name : Great White,” the line was off to the races as Ramen Toy teased a color digital render of the Shark from the M.A.S.K. cartoon, a vehicle that was loved by fans but curiously missing from the M.A.S.K. line.

What we love about Ramen Toy is that they share their progress and stages in the design process, which gives fans a more personal view in to what goes into making world class action figures and vehicles. For example, they shared this Digital render of The Great White where they said, “Adding in some details, sorting out some function, not yet the final product, just thought we’d share the progress.”

Flash forward to May 2022, Ramen Toy about blew up their Facebook page when they posted a prototype of the Great White and asked fans to hold comments, which of course they did not! This image accomplished two things where they got to show off progress on the Great White AND they also threw in a sneaky tease of the yet to be named Gullwing, which was the first vehicle and figure to ultimately go up for preorder. In Ramen Toy’s words, “This is to make sure we get the shape as close as what we remember it as an 80’s kid seeing it on the TV.”

Back in May 2022, Ramen Toy dropped a not so subtle hint that they were venturing into the beloved Mobile Armored Strike Kommand (M.A.S.K.) line from the 80’s when they announced their Makina line. They dropped this logo on their Facebook Page and their followers were elated!

The second Ramen Toy showed a prototype of Gloria, we knew something amazing was in the works. The Aura (aka Collider) is Gloria Bakers’s main mask and she wears it no matter if she’s driving her own vehicle Shark and/or co-driving Gator or Thunderhawk. The mask, can envelope her, her vehicle or other objects and shield them in a protective aura of energy that absorbs any energy directed at it, such as lasers and dissipate. It then absorbs back it into the mask itself and be fired back at the source or wherever Gloria decides to project it. The mask sculpt for the Aura is spot on to the cartoon!

Up until this point, Ramen Toy just referred to the figure as the driver of the Great White but on June 6, 2022, they gave her a name: “Working on Portia White, driver of MAKINA code name Great White. Coming soon,” and posted an image with dimensions and a full breakdown of the figure.

In an updated, also in June of 2022, Ramen Toy dropped image showing off two designs for the wheel, “An added feature of the Great White, we have the wheels turn into turbines for propulsion while submerged. (Actual model does not submerge in water).”

Revealing the final sculpt of Portia White, they revealed more details of the figure by saying “Final sculpt of our 3 inch tall Portia White figure that is included with Great White (approximately but not exactly 1/24 scale).

They wanted to call out that the figure was NOT resin recast, as it will be tooled and injection molded and colored. The figure will feature 14 points of articulation:

• neck swivel
• shoulder rotation & swivel
• elbow bend and swivel
• waist swivel
• leg swivel
• knee bend

In a post that also nearly broke their Facebook page, Ramen Toy revealed a color render of Portia White, which was show she appeared in the M.A.S.K. cartoon in the 1980’s.

Like we alluded to earlier, what we love about Ramen Toy is they give you a sneak peak into the design process:

“We have adjusted the shape of the base of the periscope and the front wheels now folds inwards like the animation before the front wheel fins extend.

We are still working on the side extension of the rear most fins as well as to make the rear wheel fins to have a bigger surface area.

If a bigger surface area is to be had, then the fins cannot retract into the wheels.

So there are some decisions to be made.”

Great White Prototype

You really get a sense of the work and effort that goes into designing a vehicle from scratch when they share these types of images.

Great White Details

In a massive update they posted on their Facebook page back in October of 2022, Ramen Toy detailed out specifications for how the various parts of this vehicle will function. For example, they stated that the periscope transformers via a spring loaded action and the front wheels transform inwards. They also noted that the turbine fix needed to be enlarged and they showed an image from the cartoon to give you a sense of what was in store.

We love when toy companies use magnets and what a stellar design decision to use them to attach exterior pieces to the Great White. What was amazing about the MASK tooling back in the 80’s was the use of springs and buttons that made the vehicles function in alternate mode and Ramen Toy is using these in the Great White. For example, they stated that the side fins shoots out via spring loaded activation. Can you just imagine the sound? We can and we are so excited for this!

Final 3D Render

Back on January, 12, 2023, coming down the home stretch in the design process, Ramen Toy posted and update and detailed out the final 3D renders from what they referred to as a “pain staking process.”

This process includes:

1) 1st creating an overall shaped 3D of the model

2) Printing the 3D into a physical form to work on a hand sample of the functionality of the model

3) Going thru 5 iterations of the hand sample to finally reach our confirmed methodology of making this

4) scanning the hand sample into 3D and refining to this 3D which we will then output as a final prototype to color and take pre-orders in (estimated) April 2023, so that the Red Gullwing can be shipped into collectors’ hands before supporting the Pre-Order on this Great White from MaKiNa by yours truly, Ramen Toy.

Gloria Baker and Shark History

Gloria Baker is the sole female agent of M.A.S.K. According to the M.A.S.K. Computer in the episode The Artemis Enigma, Gloria received a college education in Athens, Greece. She appeared in more MASK episodes than most MASK characters but, funny enough, a figure and vehicle were never made by Kenner for the M.A.S.K. toy line! Gloria’s skills included being a champion race driver, a Black Belt in Kung Fu and Karate, having knowledge of structural engineering, a background in Archaeology and a former student of anthropology as she received her college education in Athens Greece. The Shark is one of M.A.S.K. vehicles often driven by Gloria Baker. It transforms from a white Porsche 928 sports car to a white attack submarine.

Gloria Baker Figure and Stiletto M.A.S.K. Vehicle

Gloria Baker is not new to the M.A.S.K. toy line as she was released as part of their Split Seconds line in the final wave. What is new, and what Ramen Toy is doing is filling a gap where Kenner origianlly did not have, which was a Gloria Baker figure and her Shark vehicle.

Revealing the final sculpt of Portia White, they revealed more details of the figure by saying “Final sculpt of our 3 inch tall Portia White figure that is included with Great White (approximately but not exactly 1/24 scale).

They wanted to call out that the figure was NOT resin recast, as it will be tooled and injection molded and colored. The figure will feature 14 points of articulation:

• neck swivel
• shoulder rotation & swivel
• elbow bend and swivel
• waist swivel
• leg swivel
• knee bend

In a post that also nearly broke their Facebook page, Ramen Toy revealed a color render of Portia White, which was show she appeared in the M.A.S.K. cartoon in the 1980’s.

Like we alluded to earlier, what we love about Ramen Toy is they give you a sneak peak into the design process:

“We have adjusted the shape of the base of the periscope and the front wheels now folds inwards like the animation before the front wheel fins extend.

We are still working on the side extension of the rear most fins as well as to make the rear wheel fins to have a bigger surface area.

If a bigger surface area is to be had, then the fins cannot retract into the wheels.

So there are some decisions to be made.”

Great White Prototype

You really get a sense of the work and effort that goes into designing a vehicle from scratch when they share these types of images.

Great White Details

In a massive update they posted on their Facebook page back in October of 2022, Ramen Toy detailed out specifications for how the various parts of this vehicle will function. For example, they stated that the periscope transformers via a spring loaded action and the front wheels transform inwards. They also noted that the turbine fix needed to be enlarged and they showed an image from the cartoon to give you a sense of what was in store.

We love when toy companies use magnets and what a stellar design decision to use them to attach exterior pieces to the Great White. What was amazing about the MASK tooling back in the 80’s was the use of springs and buttons that made the vehicles function in alternate mode and Ramen Toy is using these in the Great White. For example, they stated that the side fins shoots out via spring loaded activation. Can you just imagine the sound? We can and we are so excited for this!

Final 3D Render

Back on January, 12, 2023, coming down the home stretch in the design process, Ramen Toy posted and update and detailed out the final 3D renders from what they referred to as a “pain staking process.”

This process includes:

1) 1st creating an overall shaped 3D of the model

2) Printing the 3D into a physical form to work on a hand sample of the functionality of the model

3) Going thru 5 iterations of the hand sample to finally reach our confirmed methodology of making this

4) scanning the hand sample into 3D and refining to this 3D which we will then output as a final prototype to color and take pre-orders in (estimated) April 2023, so that the Red Gullwing can be shipped into collectors’ hands before supporting the Pre-Order on this Great White from MaKiNa by yours truly, Ramen Toy.

Gloria Baker and Shark History

Gloria Baker is the sole female agent of M.A.S.K. According to the M.A.S.K. Computer in the episode The Artemis Enigma, Gloria received a college education in Athens, Greece. She appeared in more MASK episodes than most MASK characters but, funny enough, a figure and vehicle were never made by Kenner for the M.A.S.K. toy line! Gloria’s skills included being a champion race driver, a Black Belt in Kung Fu and Karate, having knowledge of structural engineering, a background in Archaeology and a former student of anthropology as she received her college education in Athens Greece. The Shark is one of M.A.S.K. vehicles often driven by Gloria Baker. It transforms from a white Porsche 928 sports car to a white attack submarine.

Gloria Baker is not new to the M.A.S.K. toy line as she was released as part of their Split Seconds line in the final wave. What is new, and what Ramen Toy is doing is filling a gap where Kenner origianlly did not have, which was a Gloria Baker figure and her Shark vehicle.
